A 60-year-old woman confronted an armed teenager trying to steal her car, wrestled away his gun and shot him in the stomach Tuesday evening outside a Frisco apartment complex, police said.

The 19-year-old was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital. Originally listed in critical condition, he was in stable but guarded condition on Wednesday, police said.

The woman was not injured.

Frisco police Sgt. Gina McFarlin said the woman was getting out of her car about 7:45 p.m. in the 9300 block of Wade Boulevard when the man approached and demanded her keys.

The woman refused, and the man pulled a small handgun. During an ensuing scuffle, the woman gained control of the gun, shot the carjacker once and dropped the weapon. He then picked it off the ground and fled on foot. Police found the man in a nearby apartment complex and recovered the firearm.

"We don't recommend it," Sgt. McFarlin said of the woman's decision to confront her attacker. "Always the safe thing to do, unless you're in fear of imminent * injury, is to comply."

Yep, typical liberal spineless response from that "officer". The only mistake the lady made is only firing once.

Compliance in theft demands is what leads to rape and murder.

    Never comply, always resist.

The key is to resist to a degree that will give you the opportunity to resist more and hopefully with lethal results to your assailant.

One hopes that Sgt. McFarlin's officers aren't taught the same thing.

yup. a lot of self-defense experts teach that if confronted and if possible, run, because most likely your assailant won't fire, and if he does, it's much harder to hit a moving target. Never be a victim if you can help it.
