What is it with the grooming fad in guys?

Lately I am seeing more and more guys running around with this stubble beards and/or man buns?

They are usually in some kind of "tactical" pants and wearing t-shirts from companies like 5.11, Vicars, Kyle foundation or one of a dozen firearm companies. These are the same guys I see at the range with about 10 pounds of gadgets hanging off every rail on their ARs.

In 1970 I wore bell bottom jeans, had shoulder length hair, combat boots, and never shaved.
    I outgrew it.

I wear a "stubble" beard, I don't like shaving daily it is rough on the skin. I don't like long hairs on my face interfering with my food or drink.

I use a clipper set at the lowest setting once a week and only have to shave high cheek and low neck daily.

Beyond that I "groom" if that means keeping the bushes from growing out of my ears or nose!
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I hear you on the nose trimming mogley [:D]

I usually don't shave on weekends since I am not at work. It just seems that all these guys are trying to look like Seal Team guys I guess.

And yes Tflogger, I had hair to my shoulders the day I reported to basic training. Kept it pretty much cropped since then (and I have a receding hairline or a tall forehead)

Why do men cultivate at one end what grows wild at the other?

Shave every other day, But keep a High and tight most of the time. Nose and ears I'm a woolly Mammoth.

Right after I retired I tried the long hair and beard. Was doing well for a couple of years then we had a hell of a heat spell. But tried it again for a while. Then had my Bypass, that beard tickling my Stitches drove me nuts. Then had a spider get in my hair, now if my hair touches my ears it needs to be cut off,

I put my mullet in a man bun whenever I have to wear a suit.

Nothing manly about a man bun, unless of course you engage in Sumo![:0]

Anything I have to say about someone's hair is probably just sour grapes. I asked a doctor years ago what could I do to save my hair, he said, "You might try a cigar box."

I wore a beard for several years before I retired. Working in the people business as an HR Manager, my white hair and beard gave the impression that I was very professional and my hemorrhoids made me look concerned[:D]

I wore a three piece suit for 30 years, when I retired I kind of went bohemian ...Jeans and T-Shirts , slip-ons , no socks most of time unless I have to go into town...have to dress up a bit when I pack heat. I might shave about twice a week because I'm lazy.

    Your doctor sounds like mine![:D]

I've worn a mustache since I was old enough to grow one and a goat'ee for the last 10 years or so.

I clean shaved once about 4 years ago but quickly grew it all back as I didn't recognize myself and my chin seemed to be missing![:0]

When deer season gets close, I throw away my shaver and let the beard go full bloom. My wife tells me that it makes me look more distinguished, kinda like Orson Welles......especially along with that expanded mid drift profile.

Just this morning I was listening to the radio and the two goof ball DJ's were talking about a new trend in men's fashion. MEN'S MAKEUP! They were saying that soon we will be seeing makeup counters just for men in all of the posh and not so posh department big box stores!

Seems that demasculating (a word I just made up) is what a lot of men\boys are into.[xx(] Just sickening IMO.

between the military and a job I was clean shaved for 30 years. When I retired in 99 I grew a beard which I keep trimmed to about 3/8 inch since then.

quote:The stubble beard has been around for nearly a decade.

"Designer stubble is a short growth of a man's * hair that became popular in the 1980s. This style was worn and reinvented by singer George Michael, actor Don Johnson and, in the 2010s, rapper Drake and was adopted by many others. Several companies manufacture beard trimmers designed to maintain the designer stubble look, which is also known as five o'clock shadow."

I trim my Amish beard to #3 or 3/8" every other week. Hit the sideburns to the same length since I'm buzzing. During work week (4 days) I shave once a week since I am more a voce on the phone than eye candy. Even though I am as we all know [:D].

interstatepawnllc - Sumo dudes as well as Samurai have "top knots". No self respecting Japos would ever have a silly thing as a "man bun". If I go bald or get bored I'll have a Hellboy hair doo one of these days.

set my clippers on 3/16 and that takes care of the beard and head hair all at once. Do it once a week. haven't paid a barber in 10 years.

    They are wanna be's.

I see them all the time all dressed up like an "Operator" or at least what they think one should look like or what LA Police gear says they should look like.
