just trying to renue my drivers liscence. they make you feel like a criminal. they want passport/birth certificate, utility bills,ss card, ect. I mean they have your drivers liscence with a picture on it, don't they trust themselves??? and now they want a fingerprint to go with your picture, way more info than uncle same needs for a drivers liscence.....[:(!][:(!]

also I forgot to mention, you only get a flimsy paper copy, the hard plastic liscence will be sent to the house in a week to 10 days, FED-EX, the state doesn't even trust the u.s. mail!!!!!!!!!!

    What state?

A trip to DMV in Kalif was a 1/2 day trip.

In Boise it is a 10 minute stop. The clerks are friendly and great to talk to.

I absolutely used to dread going to DMV in NJ. Was always a mob scene, and the people there seemed to delight in telling you what you needed to come back with.

TN. is a breath of fresh air.

You should have just answered No Hablo Ingles when they ask you questions. Then they would have issued you another drivers license along with food stamps if you had.

Your story illustrates quite well why West Virginia comes in about last in every measure of good government out of all 50 states. Sad, really sad.

Here in WV You will get a PIN number that must be used when you get a notice that your license are to about to expire.
    ================================================

Must be your first time renewing them since the new Federal deal came into play. If you apt to get the Federal license it can be rough the first time. It was for me.

I had to get a State issued birth certificate the first time because the one the county court house gave me did not have some type of stamp on it.

The second time I just showed them my license, Voter reg card, Birth cert, CCW permit, DD214 and a phone bill. 20 minutes and I was done.

The part that chaps my * and cant understand is the fees. Why do I have to pay $65 to renew my license for four years when the next person in line may have to only pay $25 for their license that are good or 6,7 or 8 years? All based on your birth date.

Yes, one that is small, flat broke all the time and has regulations in simple terms and no larger than can be kept in a standard spiral bound school notebook. That is good government. In its box, staying in the box and allowing maximum freedom to "We The People".

It sounds like you are getting the "star" ID....which you have to get if you plan on flying anywhere. At least that is what they call it here in Alabama. Until recently you could get the normal drivers license.....or you could bring all of that listed nonsense and get the "star" ID. I haven't gotten the star one yet....but next time I go I will get it. I'm dreading it.

As a result of the REAL ID Act, all the states have to comply with tough federal standards for DL's, in order to ensure that everyone is safe.

Of course, in Maryland we issue DL's to undocumented illegal aliens; we wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.

If I had to spend 2 hours in the local license office(s), they'd need to send for the mop and bucket squad. One gal is so hideous, I'd puke before the time was up and the other is so good looking, I'd be drooling a puddle. Guess which place I got most often.

Should have said: " no speeka da eenglis "

Works here in Washington State, so Enhanced ID is useless - for another year an a half, we have to prove our ID with the other documents...
