A 19 or a 21

Good evening everyone, I was in a conversation this afternoon about if you had a choice between a Glock 19 or a 21, Which one would you choose and why. Please remember this weapon would be used for home defense, range shooting, IDPA shooting, and as a concealed weapon. Thanks for all of you input on this.

You're basically asking the difference between 9mm and 45 acp? The difference in size and weight not withstanding, I'd go with the 45. Though you can get 15 round mags. for the 19. Shucks, get one of each.[8D]

oh god. a thinly veiled 9mm v. 45acp thread.... what are the odds this quickly degenerates into a glock v. 1911 thread?

if the choice is strictly between a model 19 and a model 21, i would go with the 19 for home defense. now, slightly modifying the original question, i would take a 17 over a 21, since i shoot 9mm better than 45 and seing as i have no concealment issues in my home, id prefer the full size as i have good sized hands and it fits me nicely.

I'd go for the G21, in close quarters I would want the knockdown power vs. number of rounds. thats my 2 cents i'm sure others will vary.

The 19 is a beautiful handgun. It's a stunning amount of rounds in a very small, very shootable package. It's great by the bed--that's where my is--and in concealed carry--where mine will be when the paperwork comes through.

This is not intended to be a 9MM vs. .45 ACP, but rather which one is the all round better choice considering price of ammo, concealability, learning curve/adaptability for a person to become comfortable shooting each weapon, etc. Now, let the thread continue, thanks.

That is a 9mm vs. .45 ACP argument, sorry to say.

Edit: With those considerations, the 9mm is the preferable choice.
