HEY.... what's wrong with bears ??!!??

If you don't like them - stay out of their territory.

Great to hear you two meet up.. always fun to meet others.

Just got back home. Went up to Holly Flats in the Bald River Gorge Wilderness on the TN/NC border. It started raining friday afternoon and poured all through the night.

Beautiful weather all day saturday. We camped and fished at Indian Boundary lake. The Sky was so clear I didnt even put the rain-fly on the tent..big mistake. About 2am it starts pouring and i'm running around trying to get a tarp over the tent. Rain pours all night, tent leaks etc., just like i remember it from when I was a kid.
About 7am I decided it wasnt going to stop raining. I got soaking wet packing everything back up in the truck.

So I'm pulling out of the campground and I started going out a one way road, decided to turn around on the road and somehow backed off the shoulder of the road. Now the back wheels are stuck in the mud and the front wheels are off the ground, cant get the truck to budge an inch even in 4WD.

I'm within sight of at least six guys with giant four wheel trucks, making all kinds of noise, but of course nobody is going out in the rain to help me.

I went from camp to camp asking these folks for help. They give me every excuse in the book, guys towing fifth wheel trailers telling me they dont want to hurt their transmission, they dont have insurance, another guy doesnt want to get his truck covered in mud etc. etc.

So i finally found some Boy Scouts and the scoutmaster agrees to give me a ride to the nearest town where i figure i'm gonna have to pay "*" a hundred bucks to yank my front bumper off. I suggested the scoutmaster at least try to pull me out with his Ford Explorer, he agreed, and I hooked up the strap and in five minutes I was out of the ditch and on my way home.

All my gear is covered in mud, except my Springfield 1911A1, which is covered in rust. I'm gonna a turn my .45 over to abc for hard chroming in a couple weeks. Cant stand to see that rust every time I take the gun outside for a day or two.

Sounds like a fun time adventure. Don't you hate those uneventful camping trips?

    Yea that sounds like fun.
All those other truck owners should get their trucks taken away from them by real men.
If there is anything I can't stand is a wimp in a truck, disgusting.

Aqlmost forgeot one of the other memorable moments. On friday we're sitting in the tent watching the rain and my son says he's hungry and wants to eat one of the emergency MREs i keep in the truck. since the MRE was propbably close to ten years old I figured it would be a good idea to use them up. I showed them how to heat up the bag etc. So my son and his friend scarf down a couple Franfurters and Western Style beans MREs. About midnight that night both kids start having major gas then they both say they got to go to the bathroom. I say take a flashlight and go take a pee. No... they don't got to pee, and they start whining about how they have stomach pains, and have to go really bad...So it's the middle of the night, pouring raining and I'm having to stand their in the rain holding the flashlight giving two ten year old kids a lesson in how to go number two(smelled like number 3) in the woods, while its raining, at night...

Camping rule #26, Flashlights are only held for women, unless their ugly. [:D]

this is a little off topic but I just thought of it. On Survivor there was this one episode where one of the guys is fishing and he gets stung by a jellyfish or something.

The guy comes running out of the water screaming that he's been stung and he needs someone to urinate on his hand(I guess urine is supposed to stop the pain?) One of the women runs up pulls down her shorts and the guy sticks his hand in her crotch and she starts peeing on him.

I can't beleive they actually showed this on camera, but there is the guy getting peed on and all the rest of the 'survivors' are standing around watching, the camera crew is there getting the close up shot and this woman is just peeing away with this look of determination on her face.. I just thought the whole thing was bizzare for a prime time TV show.
