Anybody know a link to the guns used in "Enemy at the Gate"..? Specifically, the Sniper Weapons....

A discussion at work brought into question the guns used....

Russian snipers should have used a Mosin-Nagant M1891-30 with scope and bent bolt handle. Some Russian snipers also used SVT-40. (in real life of course)

German snipers should have had Mauser K98 or G43.

If the movie shows different weapons then the directors are full of fecal matter and I am not responsible for finding out what where and why they screwed up.

That is my opinion also. The opposition disputed this...I just cannot put my hands on the data to defend my position.

Highball, the first link is a forum and there is a listing about 2/3's of the way down for the movie and weapon, but I cannot speak to the accuracy of the post. The second is a more factual site, but does not deal with the movie to the best of my observation. Hope one of these may be of some use to you.[:)]

I believe that the Russian version was a MN 91/30, Militarygunsupply.com is offering clones of this rifle an elevated price, complete with supposedly WWII surplus scopes. SOG has 91/30's from $70 up to $80 including hex receivers which should be Tula or Ishvek (sp?).

I'm pretty sure Ed Harris' rifle was a K 98.

it is a Russian site but has an English version, it covers most military small arms as well as many civilian arms. If your opposition don't believe you after that site, they are quite ill of mind.

I think the question he is trying to answer is what were they using in the movie, not in reality. There are lots of sites with factual information, I think he needs movie information.[:)]

I gave them the benefit of my vast knowledge of firearms...and set them straight...[:D] SOMEHOW...that failed to impress them....Oh, well...a seer is without honor in his own workplace....[:D]

Jude Law carried a 91/30 with a PU scope and Ed Harris carried a "High Turret" K98K. Same weapons as were used at Stalingrad.
