Does anyone have a back-up copy of Windows XP? If so, will you burn me a copy of the disc so that I can reformat my laptop? If it works I'll make it worth your while.

Any help guys?
I will have to find some ISO image software to make an image of the disk . You can't just burn a copy like you would with files.
just don't give him your key and you should be in the good.
don't plan on it. We all know how drjew likes to mooch off of people. As long as I don't get a pictures of,...well of anything I am good.

Not entirely true. I currently have 4 computers operating with XP Pro using the same key code.

I have had more then one running on it too. When they don't let you authenticate, you just call them up and tell them your doing a reinstall.

No, but I'd be happy to point you to a download of Ubuntu, or you can request a CD (or many CDs) from them.

Nice suggestion, I suggest Mandrake it is great for beginners as well
http://www.mandriva.com/en/download there is a live CD of it I believe which means that you can use a different OS without installing it its a great way to try linux.
And you all have the updates as well? Hard to believe.
You may have a multiple license key.
I do not have a multiple license key. My copy wasn't even intended for public sale, it was suppose to be used by a computer manufacturer for instillation on a single computer. All you do is call and tell them you're doing a reinstall and every computer it's installed on has an authenticated OS with full updating capabilities.

He's not either. My laptop is one of the 4.
If you're sure you have a legitimate copy, you can got through their certification test and they will send you a new CD as a lost replacement.
If you have a bogus copy, never run their certification (I think they call it verification) program and test, or your operating system will get flagged and you won't be able to download updates.
Do you know what you have? XP Home, XP Pro, and what service pack?
