Gun violence. Gun violence. Too much Gun violence.
    Tell the truth.
Violent people. Violent people. Too many violent people.
    Mostly black. And involving drugs.
Out law gangs. Member in gang= Life in Prison.
    Execute illegal drug dealers.
Life for use of firearm in the commission of a felony.
There. 75% of "gun violence" solved.

** Back when I was investigating auto theft cases, the rate of thefts was about 3 per minute. I got sidetracked on the article about gun violence and vehicle break-ins and thefts of firearms. It surmised that people had more guns for protection, and thieves were stealing them from vehicles which resulted in more criminal gun violence. Once again, blame the object instead of the criminal. And it is fact that they are mostly black.
In this area, a majority of vehicle thefts were by minorities.
A large part of them were by black teens who went joy riding, sometimes parking the stolen vehicles in various locations, leaving them a few days before riding again. Now and then try to sell one.
One case, 10 new Hondas were stolen in one night from a local dealership. Took a couple of weeks to recover them all. One was sold to a black female for $1000. She had no idea the NEW Honda she bought was stolen. How shocking.[:0]

They should make stealing a car illegal.

    That always solves the problem

Living just North of Detroit it's easier to just leave the truck unlocked and the keys in the ignition, after all, 'they' aren't 'stealing', they are just trying to get home.

And eventually the truck runs out of gas, is towed and impounded and I get it back.

If think there would be a declared holiday in Wayne/Oakland/Macomb counties if there were ONLY 4 'borrows' a day.

It's already illegal, there just need to be more signs put up about it being illegal... you know to tell people that it's illegal.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I'm pro choice - they should be able do whatever they want to. oh wait, they can

no mater the issue or the legality of the issue, you can choose right or you can choose wrong.

it's like a lot of issues. we may know something is wrong but we argue over the legality and morality of it.

In the twenty years I've lived in this county there has never been a stolen vehicle. Probably 25% leave their keys in the ignition all the time.

Vehicles are stolen every day in nM, then reappear coming back from Mexico, carrying dope.
Las Cruces Mall was a hotspot for vehicle theft for 25 years, until nobody went there anymore.
There's a spot on the West Side, between Rio Rancho and Paradise Hills, that is FULL of stolen cars/trucks that have been stripped of saleable parts, then set afire or shot full of holes.
Local LEOs say that they have a jurisdictional "black hole" in that exact spot, so that any vehicles they "recover" from that area are alternately and routinely assigned to Albuquerque PD, Rio Rancho PD, Bernalillo County Sheriff's, Sandoval County Sheriff's, and the nM State Police.
Should be dealt with like horse thieves in the 1800s.

Wonder cause the Mexican gangs have really grown in this area.

The biggest reason is that it's considered a "property crime", and ignored by LEOs in nM.
But yeah, there's a lotta gangbangers.

If your car is stolen here you have to go to the police station and fill out the paper work.

California has held the car theft record for years, but I see Modesto has beat Fresno for the top spot now. Early 90's Fresno averaged 14,000 stolen cars a year. My '78 Cutlass was hit 3 times in 4 nights, and it never left the parking spot. The 1st azzhat damaged the steering column so bad, it fried the starter and locked up the steering wheel.

No one here in north central PA is charged with a stolen vehicle, they get charged with "receiving stolen property". Easier to get a conviction.

Same here, except in late summer. You have to lock your car because your neighbors will put excess garden vegetables in your seat.

I think there has been a car theft in this county but none that I can recall. I have 11 vehicles and they all have the keys in them.
They are all within easy pistol range of the house.

You need to write Wyden and Merkley to outlaw 10 gallon gas tanks first.

I looked up the crimes done in my town in the last year and found a map function that was pretty cool. Found I am in the middle of a circle with no crimes committed in the last 12 months. I'm OK with that.[:)]
