The biggest piece of that plan is in the realm of television. Despite falling viewership Nascar was able to pick up ten-year TV rights deals with both NBC and Fox worth a combined $8.2 billion.

Turning left and flooring it has turned way to PC for me, it sold its soul to the devil for mega-millions. Maybe the Obama, Jessie Jackson, the (D) party and Al Sharpton will step up and spend money for NASCAR sponsors and watch races, I sure as hell won't.
Sad, but I think we're bordering on "delusional" now.
Yep. Funny for awhile, but then it just gets a bit sad and pathetic.
Cling to your memories and bogus opinions all U want.IT is a dead and rotting so called "sport"..[xx(]

RIiight."NBC"? Or NBCSN? FOX or FOXsoprts1?
BIG DIFFERENCE.Neither of those networks are even on the air/cable waves in 88% of the Country...
I've always wondered if the dumb (poops) watching NASCAR realize they're watching a 2 1/2 hour long commercial?
uhh,nooo.its subliminal,,duh,,,,Dohhh,,,[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Kind of reminds me of Obama trying to convince me that Obamacare is a good thing for America.. The more he * his lips the worse it looks.
Comcast owns NBC.
Get rid of the "Chase" and let them fight for the championship by racing.

Only difference... I presented the Facts. Did I mention the 8.2 Billion Dollar TV 10 yr contract deal? [:D]
8.2 B as in Billion
Over 10 years.
That's 820 M as in Million per year.
To continue your NFL comparison from yesterday, the NFL is taking in around 5 B as in Billion per year.

Again; still not understanding why you brought up the NFL comparison.

they can back out of the contract. That is standard in the industry.
In actuality that $8.2 Billion over 10 years is really not that much.
That is only $820 Million a year. There are 38 cup races in the year. So that only works out to $21,578,947.36 a race.
Add in the "All Star" race and it drops to $21,025,641.02 Million a race.
Let's also figure in the 33 Xfinity races. Now it is down quite a bit to $11,549,295.77 a race.
Let's get even down further and add the 23 World Truck races. Now we are down to $8,913,043.47 Million a race.
Not really a bad deal for the networks and their sponsors.
Consider the average cost of a 30 second commercial in the 2015 Super Bowl was $4.5 Million!
So five 30 second commercials would surpass the $21.5 Million. Two 30 second commercials would surpass the $8.9 Million!
$8.9 Million average for a weekend is a drop in the bucket for the networks.
They probably make that up easily by what they charge the cable and satellite companies to carry their network.
Yes they have a 10 year contract. But listen! All broadcast contracts have stipulations,
that if the viewership or market share fall below a certain percentage, the broadcaster can back out of the contract.
That is NOP for these kind of contracts.
What NASCAR needs is to stop all the PC bull. They have pushed away their base.
NASCAR got a conditional contract,
for a relatively small sum of money,
from two relatively unimportant networks.
That's really great.
I will occasionally watch a bit of Daytona and maybe parts of another race throughout the year. I used to record Daytona, but don't even to that anymore.
The rate NASCAR is going, by the time this television contract is up, it will be mandatory for all drives to drive a Prius, and the winner will be whomever gets the best mileage after completing 500 miles in under 10 hours.
