Different Gun Prices

I went to all the local gun stores and the best price i could get on the Springfield XDs 9mm was 589.00. I tried to talk all the other stores down a little and the best deal i got was 589 with no tax.

I started looking on GB and got a new one for 399 plus 25 shipping and a 10 dollar ffl fee. 434 for the gun and all the stores want 589 in my area.

There is no need to pay 150 more. I would like to help the local people but i cant pay 150 more than somewhere else. Thats crazy. Even used guns are crazy expensive unless you are trying to sell then your gun is a piece of crap.

I was burning time in the gun library at the cabelas a couple weeks ago. They had a very used Springfield xd .45 that I politely asked if they could do a better price on being it was $20 more than what I can get a brand new one for. The man in charge response was very rude and uncalled for. I won't be going back.

I have never understood why store employees feel a need to be rude to a customer.I mean,if the guy was told the prices are "firm",why not just tell you that? What reason does this stooge have to be anything but helpful and tell you that the prices are firm.At least U MIGHT someday return,I doubt that will ever happen now...[V]

For many it is because it is not their store and they have little training. Their hourly wage probably also doesn't help their attitude.

a few years ago my son bought a xdm target / competition model ? the longer slide and adj sights . brought it home , I got the bug to buy a half plastic 45 [:(] so I went back the next day ask about the xdm 45 , he gave me a price same price my son paid for the up graded one so I ask about it it was 200.00 more also . so I questioned how over night the pistol jumped 200.00 or so . I even told them what I could buy one on GB for with shipping and transfer fees it was still going to be 150.00 less .
I ask can you get close , no way, no how ,not going to happen, I said what about a cash discount , as most places do 3% or more for that. he replied same thing NO .
I said well guess where I am buying the pistol from [:D] you fellows can kiss my * out of here
same with my son wanted a Daniel defense ar another shop had one for just under 2k , same gun on line and direct from DD was 1600. or so they refused to budge said that's our price and were sticking to it I said well guess who is getting our sale [:D]
both times I offered to meet half way just so I could have the gun today . they refused so I wanted a couple days saved 500.00 or so between the two /
when the xds came out had too have one [:p] went to a gun show several dealers had them I already knew the dealer price so I was trying to deal . was not trying to buy it for cost just a fair offer no way , we can sell these all day long for our price ,
found a dealer who had one sold it to me 25.00 over cost and shipped the case to me usps a few days later great fellow you can bet I look for him when I go to the shows
oh buy the way the other dealers still had the ones they could sell all day long on there table when I left [:0][B)]

I understand the store front and money needed to keep it going, but just work with the people a little .
I do have a friend who is a FFL and will order any thing I want ( that he can get being a small dealer a lot of firearms are locked out on him due to quaintness need to buy ) same 20 or 30.00 over his cost

I can usually do $150 better on GB, but not always. My transfer FFL can sometimes meet or beat the best GB price, and then he gets the nod. Problem is that I often want things he cannot get, and they are here on GB. Over a hundred of them so far.[:I]

I am an FFL who has been in business 35 years. Prior to the internet, we sold firearms at 15% over cost, and took any form of payment, including layaways, and trades, and managed to have a customer base of over 100 regular firearms purchasing customers.
Fast forward to the internet and I'm barely competitive at 10% over cost. My customer base has shrunk to the internet, but I'm still doing transfers at $35.00 each. If I do sell a firearm at 10% there are no add on accessories the customer buys, again losing the sale to the internet.
We buy over 50 firearms a month so the customer will have the cash to purchase new online. We have cut back on stocking new firearms because we cannot make it on 10% margin, but we do quite well on used firearms on GB. As our accessories sell down, we will be used a used Gun Shop, and internet transfer dealer.

    Stocking retailers are going extinct.

There will come a day when we all go to warehouses and pick up our orders. It's not too far away.

I my local guy can get it, I'll buy it from him.

He is an FFL, and will order in a new firearm if requested. On occasion it is less than I would pay on GB, and likewise, on occasion it is more. He is my transfer dealer, and I don't fee right asking him to transfer a firearm he can sell me.
