Committed fraud, burglary, identity theft, and served time for those convictions?
Congrats!!! Apparently you can undergo a background investigation and still be a healthcare navigator for Obamacare in the great state of California! [:D][:D][:D]

And added a black matte finish to it? To help in in covertness...
What kind, type? How? Did you do it yourself or Who, Where?
Thanks... [;)]
It works very well.
If I were smarter, I would have only tried once. But I'm not smarter.[B)]
Just buy something black.
SigArms does it all the time[;)][;)]
It works very well.
I'd thought about Sig... will they do brands or makes other than Sig? [;)]
I guess U could clean all the oil off and go "Parade Black"....Or even leave the Hoppes on,Parade black IS COVERT BABY!!! ( KIWI BRAND )
"Parade Black"... ??? 'splain Lucy... [?]
why not just PKZ? It offers extremley good protection if done properly.
PKZ : "Parkerize"???
I thought you could only Parkerize Carbon Steel...
I see no reason that flat black epoxy paint would not work. It might not be pretty but if covert is the goal you ain't looking for beauty anyway.
Nothing says "covert" like a plain brown paper sack.
Doubles as a brass catcher too.[:D]

Ohhhh... Hadn't thought about that... Neat idea...
I'll keep this in mind... [;)]

Checked the SIG Arms site...
They'll only do Slides... [:(!]
And I liked the 'Nitron' finish on my SIG Too... [;)]
Baking sprays work fairly good. I've used them several times with good results.
Midway or Brownell's carry them in many colors.
You can cover anything with Duracoat, even nickel. Just blast or sand it a little.
Parkerising won't work on stainless.

Several colors to choose from too.
Taken a Stainless Steel Pistol, brushed or polished with no other finish...

Robert,
Check out DuraCoat.
Got a friend of mine who used DC on his Sig P226 (SS).
Completely disassembled the pistol, taped off the rails on the frame and slide, then bead blasted both using Al2O3 (120, IIRC). Ran his pressure at 45 psi, just enough to roughen the surface.
After blasting, he used MEK to clean the frame and slide, let them dry, then shot them with DC. Although it's not required, he baked the slide/frame in the oven for about an hour.
He put the slide/frame on the shelf for 30 days before reassembly, to let the DC fully cure.
Outstanding results. Pistol looks great. He carries it every day and shoots it twice a week. He has yet to experience any wear on it, and it's been about 7 months since he refinished it.

Im saying if you want covert why get Stainless Steel? Just by a pistol with a Parkerized finish. If covert is the mission, why is the type of steel so important?

Stainless Steel is the only material a particular gun is currently made in...
Hence the reasoning to black it out...
I prefer a 'Black' gun in presentation over a 'Bright n'Shiny' showpiece as a carry piece... less attention, more surprise.
I've been referred to "Dura-Coat" by an experienced user as an optimal surface coating...
Anyone else here familiar with "Dura-Coat"? Opinions?
I have a Redhawk that I bought here on GB and it has been "blackened". Not sure what the previous owner did but it looks great. I assumed it was parkerized but I guess not. The trigger and hammer where left stainless. Did Ruger only produce the Redhawk in stainless or could you get it blued? All the ones I've ever seen have been SS.
I like that finish... No glint or reflection and it's good looking!!
How does it hold up? Don't look like the turn line is even all the way thru it..Or has it been barely turned?
AGAIN, That is a SWEET FINISH on that there BHawk!!

I don't know much it was handled and shot after that finish was put on before I bought it but I've had it a couple of years and have only fired 50 rds through it. I need to get it out and have some fun. It's had some work done to the trigger too and it's real smooth. It was a late night after one too many alcohols type of purchase on GB but I got a great deal on it and my GP100 needed someone to hang out with.
