I am sure the opposition will fight it on the grounds that City and local government cannot be interfered by the Feds and that they can make their own rules concerning the city..It has been working in Chicago for a long time now..[:(]

Apparently he will allow only Revolvers.
He also said that he will allow gun registration and gun buying cards soon.
Seems to me that with this decision you shouldn't have a registration or need a card to buy a gun.

I been saying it all along. The states will set the rules. Feds won't mess with states rights as long as those rights still give citizens other avenues.

I find it Ironic that California can pass a Law that medicinal marjiuana is ok with a doctors prescription and the Federal law backed the countless clinic bust by the feds. Feds say theat Federal Law superceeds state law and they will not allow medicinal marjiuana.

Why would it be different when a state bans certain items that the Feds have stated there are no laws against?

Well how about the guy that has a federal permitted class 3, paid the tax and not allowed to move that gun to a state that says NO to class 3 firearms?

DC mayors have a history of slime and corruption.

THis sounds basic and elementary but I'll say it again

Local governments cannot be allowed to restrict and regulate rights afforded by the Constitution of the United States.

There is no logic to that. Can a federal government declare slavery illegal and states say "No. It is still legal here"? Can the federal government declare discrimination based on race is illegal, but states allow it? Can the federal government claim women have an equal right to vote, but a state claim women are less than men?

We all should know by now that the FEDS pick and choose what they get envolved in. They have the power,, as long as citizens do not rebel against the local powers the feds will pretty much leave them alone..

BTW, at what point can we start calling such socialists like Stevens an enemy of America?

    They are not "patriots"

They are a threat to the freedoms we, the people, now enjoy. I might earn a FBI file by saying this, but these Supreme Court Justices and there supporters attempted to null the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights.

That is a serious threat to our Republic.

Justice Stevens is as old as dirt. He has no intention of retiring. We, the people, do need him off the bench soon before more freedoms are restricted.

...and if this was an abortion case, these same four socialists would be crying a different song.

This is exactly what I have been saying. Nobody argued that cities or states could not ban some guns... only ALL guns. So CA banning many types of guns is still OK. Under this ruling DC can allow revolvers with 36" barrels but everything else is illegal. This will be the effect of the ruling. As long as one gun is legal.. in your HOME because that's what the ruling said... then the gun control laws are Constitutional.

One gun in your home. That's what the Court said.

Sorry, we don't seem to have won a whole lot, here, unless clarifications are forthcoming.

The ruling was on a Pistol. Only a pistol. So can I sell my HK91 to a DC resident to shoot intruders?

Population of DC is like 60-70% black so highly unlikely the mayor would be otherwise.

But that has nothing to do with gun control. All 4 of the stupid, idiotic, moronic justices who sided with the forces of evil and ignored the Founders intent in their dissent are white. Well, Ginsberg is Jewish and technically Jews are not Caucasian so she's slightly "off-white."

I not only think you are correct, I'm starting to wonder if this is a victory or a defeat. I hope I feel better after I read the decision, but as of right now it looks like it will be easier for the gun grabbers to do everything they have always wanted to do. They can make it all but impossible to own a firearm, as long as they don't literally make it impossible for everyone.

They can create a perfect paper trail so that when the court on high, I mean the high court, reverses itself ten or twelve years from now, they know who has the guns.

It's starting to look like this is step one in the wrong direction.
The road to hell is paved with COMPROMISE.

    Contempt of court?

The response comes as no shock to me. Our own POTUS and Congress will not abide by the Constitution, so why would the mayor of D.C.?

Politicians realize that no matter what the law is, they can trample/sidestep it, and get away with it. They've been doing it for years. What's more, is that they will continue to do so, unless:

They are treated for what they are; CRIMINALS. You see, when Mayor Fenty spewed that rubbish from his pie-hole, he made his intentions clear. If and when he acts on those intentions, and does not allow a resident of D.C. to own/possess a semi-automatic pistol, he should immediately be taken into custody and charged with violating the law, just like you or I would be (on second thought, they wouldn't take us into custody. as citizens, say we had a shotgun with a barrel 1/2" too short, they would send a JBT death squad and burn us out[:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]).

There are few of us who have grown weary of this constant attack on our rights by folks who refuse to obey the law themselves. Eventually, a point will be reached where enough people demand those in power to be held accountable for their actions. Some of us reached that point long ago. Hopefully, some of the apathetic in our midst will reach it too. I do not expect all of them will, but hopefully enough do to make a difference.

It's not about keeping you safe, and it's not about controlling crime. It is about keeping "the people" under "the thumb of control."
What's ironic about this, is that "the people" are the ones that rightfully should be in control. Our POTUS, Our congress, and our other politicians have forgotten this.

we, the people, need to fire a good majority of our employees.

the District's ban on handgun possession in the home violates the Second Amendment, as does its prohibition against rendering any lawful firearm in the home operable for the purpose of immediate self-defense.

He had better read this part.

how about that, they want "reasonable gun laws", to make it unreasonably difficult to own a gun.

    Play the video.
There will be a short commercial, a short video from some people in Washington DC and then another video will start immediatly after that with just the Mayor speaking.
It's about 3 minutes into that video.

"Automatic and semi-automatic handguns remain illegal..."

Yes, He said it. I think he mis-spoke and will be corrected by whatever regs they come up with.
