Too much info

Anyone else feel that in order to simply BUY something here you are required to give too much information?

I realize that it is the administrators right and support it as a right...but disagree with it as a policy... I am NOT going to give out my home phone and home address when I have spent years avoiding just this revelation. I don't get junk mail or phone solicitations as I have spent almost 20 years NOT giving such info. (barring the blind junk of course).

I understand for sellers...but as a buyer I have a post office box..a cell phone...and pay with postal money orders. That should be sufficient. If I am buying a weapon it will be sent to a licensed dealer anyway. There is no reason for me to have to give this.

Just venting a bit...guess I will buy my mossberg barrel on flea bay.

All of this being said I LOVE the forum...just won't be buying here.

Your choice, however, I think you're being too cautious.

You can list your cell number instead of your home number.
Do you have a business address you can list?

I've made 30+ purchases here and have never received any junk mail, telemarketer calls, etc. from GB.

BTW, awfully big PO box you got if you can fit a barrel in it.
Also, remember that UPS and other package services do not deliver to PO Boxes.

Well...they registration says that PH# and Add must match on their comparison software (should be interesting as my real phone is unlisted in the first place). They specifically say no cell phones so I assume that just the prefix will kick it out.

Also...I have bought 3 barrels on ebay..last one about 8 months ago.

I use my business as a shipping address...but that is NOT what the registration claims to require.

My paranoia is because I have been a bill collector for 25 years and know exactly what a bit of info can get you.

But you are right...rights are rights...I know I sound like a nut...maybe I am!!! HAHAHA

    cooch:

GunBroker will not mail the magazine to a business address (I have tried). I think you will find it a very worthwhile publication. I have not received any additional junk mail that I am aware of after the magazine began arriving.

    Why not??

Doug, you summed up several statements I find to be false.

The US of by God A is a wonderful place. You can decide to comply or not participate in the process. The fine folks at GB Holdings Inc. have set the rules. Lots of folks choose to follow them. I have bought several things with nary a problem. We enjoy a free forum to discuss stuff and have different points of view to ponder.

    By the by; E-Bay sucks!

Also; being a bill collector you should pay your bills on time as a professional intregity thing. Hiding will not keep yo from owing the money if not paid.

I agree about E-bay's status being pressure deficient ...I also agree about the right to set the rules....

I don't have the foggiest idea how you got the impression that I do not pay my bills....and strongly resent the implication!!! I simply avoid JUNK mail and having my information available!! I pay my bills and even <gasp> paid my child support completely and ON TIME!! Anyway...I will let this go and simply buy elsewhere. This IS a wonderfull forum and I will continue to participate here..just wanted to support it by doing business here if I could.
