What does FREE mean?

I am tired of all these companies saying something is FREE when you must purchase something else first. For example, FREE shipping with $99.00 in merchandise. Go to KFC & get a FREE chocolate cake if you purchase $10.00 of grease. This has been bugging me for a long time. If it's FREE then you walk in and they hand you one, FREE. O.K. rant over.

The ads I hate are those that say buy one (or any number) & get one (or more) free. They ALWAYS up the price on the items you buy so that there is no deal. Worse yet they often don't even list the price of the items you must buy.
I ignor those ads as well as the ones that say so much off (usually auto ads) but fail to say how much you have to pay.

Not really sure what you're bitching about. Would you rather them charge for shipping? Pretty dumb point, "you have to buy something else first". What would you be doing that required shipping in first place? Buying something so, you want to pay for that $100 order you're placing? Call em up, I'm sure they'd be glad to not eat the shipping costs.
