11/29/07: Wyoming Whiskey To Compete With Ky. Bourbon
POSTED: 9:58 am EST November 29, 2007
CODY, Wyo. -- Construction is scheduled to begin next month on a distillery in the small northern Wyoming community of Kirby.
The distillery will produce about 50 thousand gallons of whiskey annually.
Kentucky distilleries tout their limestone aquifers as a key to making great bourbon. Company partner David DeFazio said Worland, Wyo., has just such an aquifer that will provide the water for Wyoming Whiskey.
DeFazio also said Steve Malley, a master distiller for Maker's Mark bourbon for 15 years, has been hired to oversee daily operations in Kirby, and will move to Wyoming early next year.
The company has yet to decide on a name for the whiskey.
