Satisfying last few days

Spent 4 days enjoying all that Joseph Oregon and Chief Joseph Days had to offer.
Rode the tram, fished the lake with Grandson, just enjoyed the town.
Best part of this part of the trip was that I got to watch my Grandson hands down win the miniature bull riding. He got 2nd on the first night, but took the #1 hole in the next three rodeos to win the buckle and be the only one to cover all three bulls, quite and accomplishment for a just turned 11 year old. Yep old Poppa is a little proud. (will update with some pics this evening.
Sunday, we said "Goodbye, to the beautiful Wallowa valley and began to somewhat follow the trail of the Nimiipuu, (Nez Perce) and the trail that Chief Joseph lead his people on to try to get to Canada and headed north to Lewistion Id and then onto Orofino, where we spent the night and viewed the largest straight axis dam (what ever that means) known as Dworshak dam.
At first light we continued up the Clearwater, stopping at many historical markers that not only made reference to the flight of the Nez Perce, but also to the the 1806/7 trip of the Lewis and Clark expedition which had crossed the Lolo into the upper Lochsa and down into the Clearwater country.
We dropped down into the Bitterroot valley still following the trail of Chief Josephs band and up Lost trail pass and over then over Chief Joseph pass and dropped into Trail creek leading into the Big Hole valley. We stopped at the Big Hole battlefield and toured the site, although not quite as in detail as I would have liked, but save that for another day when Grandkids are along.
We then left the trail and traveled out of the Big Hole to the Beaverhead and down and across Monida pass back into Idaho, again crossing for the last time the trail of Chief Josephs band near present day Dubois Idaho.
Good trip and I would highly recommend a visit to the Wallowa valley, Chief Joseph days, and a trip up or down the Clearwater and across Lolo.
Did I mention I was proud of my Grandson for winning the average and thebuckle at Chief Joseph Days, covering all four bulls, and catching a slug of rainbows in Wallowa lake[:D][:D]
