And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
A few years back I'm sure there was doe on my place that had at least one antler. I looked for her(it) for several weeks at the beginning of archery season but didn't get a chance to take a shot.
Horns don't shed, Antlers shed & return annually, to continue their growth.

Happens more frequently in West Virginia as they have Worls Class deer with removable antlers.
Didn't see one with "Horns", saw a deer with Antlers though...[:o)]

If Mr. P said it, it must be true.
It is unusual in Arkansas.

In Jackson county WV, I saw a six point 'antlered doe' in the bed of a pickup, get one set of horns bumped by a passing DNR officer... it started swinging back and forth!
The guy was one who was mentioned in the annual the 'big buck' contest every year.
Never saw his name again! [:D].

Except for pronghorn "antelope," right? I think theirs are biologically considered horns, but they do shed annually.

callktulu, you are correct, but that's because Pronghorns are not a true antelope breed. They are more closer related to the "Bovine", or even Giraff breeds.
"Each "horn" of the pronghorn is composed of a slender, laterally flattened blade of bone that grows from the frontal bones of the skull, forming a permanent core. As in the Giraffidae, skin covers the bony cores, but in the pronghorn, it develops into a keratinous sheath which is shed and regrown on an annual basis. Unlike the horns of the family Bovidae, the horn sheaths of the pronghorn are branched, each sheath possessing a forward-pointing tine (hence the name pronghorn).
