Anyone have a Cannon safe?

I have a 48 gun model that eats 9V batteries. I emailed the company and so far have not gotten a response. I'm ready to put my 4th battery in since I got it the day after Christmas.

Anyone else have this issue?

I've only used Duracell Coppertop batteries, with at least a 5 year expiration date.

Same battery in the cannon safe that was in it when I bought it two and a half years ago.

Never had an issue with mine. Like Daniel said, I'd look for a short. A close look for bad insulation. Then maybe check both terminals to the case with an ohm meter to get an idea for the parts you can't see.

Let us know what you find...

I have 2 Cannons. Never had that problem and the batteries last for more than a year.

I have a couple Cannons. They don't use batteries so no issues. I prefer the regular S&G dial combo's.

I checked it with my clamp on amp gauge and it draws 5 milliamps with the door closed and the LED off. I'm getting the feeling that I have a defective component in the lock circuit. It's not a dead short or it would draw a lot more amperage than that.

Battery should last at least a year. With an internal short, the lock may fail. If this happens with safe closed and locked, you will not like the expense of having the safe opened; think $300+ Last one I opened was a Cannon; they sent a new lock free, but owner paid for having it opened

Give them a call, explain the problem, and insist on a new lock. My suggestion would be to change to S/G group 2 dial lock. Mounting is the same for screws for either type lock; door on Cannon is drilled/tapped for screws to mount backing plate of dial

Watch out for the duracells, they ruined my GPS. They gave me a few bucks, but not worth the hassle. I read about some quality issues recently. I switched.

My Cannons are all over 25 Years old, and use S&G combo dials, so no battery issues.

I don't even have a cannon, so I never got a safe for one.
