Hottest day so far. Registered 102 in my car so far this year 100 was the highest. That was not inside cause the AC was working fine and it was cool that was 102 on the outside going down the road.

There was a break for a couple days and the temp only made it to the high 80's but now it's back up to nearly 100. I'm always glad when I see the end of August, but we haven't started it yet.

Saw you guys hot triple digits Grumpy.

We stayed at a very comfortable 98....

We'uns is not made for heat like this.

I spent the day sitting in the sprinkler with a beer. Then the beer got empty and I didn't know what to do....so I got another beer.

Rest of the day was about the same. [^][^]

Only room with AC is the bedroom. Cat spent most of the day laying right in front of it.

I can handle heat, dry heat but I cannot handle humidity at all anymore. Twice in the last 3 days I fell over while strapping/unstrapping my trailer. The first time I went down pretty hard and was out for a second and the other one I felt myself getting lightheaded and sat down just before falling over. I've taken 4 showers in two days because of sweating, standing still I have sweat pouring off me. Yes I'm drinking tons of water but for some reason humidity tries to kill me.

Was in Iowa and Minnesota when the fall outs happened. Laid down yesterday afternoon after a shower and slept 15 hours. I never looked at the weather to see what it was but for me it was terrible. I can handle the middle east heat of over 120? but give me temps in the 90s with high humidity and I'm done.

Well, I think you are onto something jltrent!

Not sure if it's due to humans or earthly cycles or maybe a combo.
But here is some recent info from NOAA -
    https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/201505

Sounds like we're in for more of the same.

PS. This is our 3rd very rainy spring summer in a row, next year I'm trying watermelons!

For those who have never suffered heat related physical shutdown, I can tell you it has lasting effects. I've passed out several times(not just a few seconds but for longer periods) due to overheating. Now, I have problems with how my body reacts to heat and humidity and have to be very careful. It's been hot and humid in the Midwest and I've been lethargic, uncoordinated, and even somewhat mentally confused numerous times-right on the threshold of another heat stroke.

Damn...high nineties with a 102 heat index up here near the Adirondacks on the Vermont border.

The snow pile at the end of my driveway is almost completely gone[:p][:0]

Ohio has had an unusually cool summer. I think only 1 day north of 90 where I am. There was frost on the ground on Wed. night, with a low in the 40s.

That said, yesterday and today are kinda toasty. The fun part? The window AC compressor keeps overheating and cutting the unit out to just fan mode... cools off, kicks back in for a few minutes, overheats, repeat. Meaning if it's 94 outside, it's about 85 inside. Underpants weather for sure.

Best part is, it's a humid heat. If you are from a dry area and have never experienced a day that's over 100 degrees with 100% humidity and no breeze, you don't know what hot is. I was out west a few times, and got to experience temps over 110, but humidity was non-existant. Felt like 85 degrees with humidity, not bad at all.

Ok so that's why I moved to Oregon. I can no Longer take the heat, it flat does me in. So when we get a little heat it now really does me in. If I lived in it year round I may be able to take it better.

I just took my HD 3 miles to fill it up and 3 miles back and I now need a break cloths are soaked.

I was up at my favorite fishin' hole this weekend (Olive Lake) and it was about 72 when we pulled out of there at noon. Got home after a two hour drive and it was 93 in my driveway. I almost turned around and headed back to the lake! Damn work ethic kicked in...[:(]

..My internal thermostat has been broken for a long time. I used to shovel in grain bins in this kind of heat and humidity all day. It was brutal but I could do it. Now, just being outside in this puts me on the dizzy, loopy train.
..Lots of water and a touch of salt now and then helps, but I still feel sick. Probably should have the thyroid checked. Both my sisters have thyroid issues.
