I have a cracked exhaust manifold on my car and the manifold is made on the catalytic converter. What can i put on the manifold to cover the 3 inch crack?

Thanks David

My Mom gave me her car. It is a 1994 Buick Century. It runs and starts great but when she cuts it off it may or may not start again until it cools off.

She has had it worked on by everyone in her small town. When they hook up a tester it will tell them one thing and 30 minuets later the tester will tell them something else altogether.

It has the 3800 engine or 3.8 liter. Any ideas. I would like to get it fixed and give it back to her just in case she needs another car.

Iron can be brazed. Steel-mig or tig weld.

JB WELD [;)] all jokes aside have you checked a wrecking yard to get the whole thing in one piece.

It could be covered under warranty.
Guy at work had one cracked and GM covered it.

Repaired many manifolds over the years. Remove the manifold, grind out the crack a little, preheat it, weld the crack with 55% nickel rod, post-heat and peen it, let it cool slowly, then grind down the weld. The one on my truck you can't even tell where the crack was.

Smog connect equipment has a longer warranty than most anything else on the car. I would check the dealer.
