Not "all vets", just those already enrolled in the VA system.

I'd oppose it either way. We're already spending far more than we take in and it has to stop if we want to remain a free country.

Not any good for any vet that earns over $47000 a year. YOu cant even get a vets ID card from the clinic. If you take Soc. Security and any pension you might get, for get it. Politicians use it for eyewash, Senator Tammy Baldwin likes to have her picture taken with vets, but try to talk to her about some simple issues.

Thru Tricare I pay $5.00 a month and have coverage. But I think that is changing to this new system.

The Tricare Retiree Dental Plan is going to be phased out 31 Dec 2018. A new plan will be released that allows you to choose which insurance carrier you wish to have your dental coverage through (Met Life is one I know of).

Prices will be going up as it will be a commercial plan. Honestly I have been wondering when they were going to do this move. Dental is one of those plans that they take in much less in premiums than they pay out each year.

Here is the page to follow for the upcoming changes

I thing it is a great idea, considering the rumors I have heard of congress getting Cadillac dental care and less than 10% served.

My wife is a retired federal worker and has the plan they're moving Delta Dental users to. She likes it. But her premiums are higher than my DD.

Another benefit is that we're going to be able to get a vision plan too.

After my wife's out of pocket dental bills last year of over 15K, I would gladly take some relief from Uncle Sam's maybe help for teeth of mine that are going south!

Human health is kind of strange! Our teeth are part of our body yet even if you are covered by the best medical insurance, the teeth are not covered!! The eyes are not covered! poop![:(!]

The U.S. is out of control on medical spending,, and there is NO WAY the money is going to Medical care, maybe Medical Care and massive abuse of the system?.

The little South American Country I live is RANKS higher,, much higher than the U.S. No. 22 vrs. 37 for the USA.

That's a few thousand experienced dentists who are now out there.....doing what? Bagging groceries? Begging for food at traffic lights? How many unemployed dentists do you guys know?

Why would any dentist with a choice go to work for the federal government? Especially since federal salaries were frozen by the Big Liar. And, the Draft Dodger has announced that he will freeze salaries again for 2020.

We've seen this before.......with Medicaid dental. Folks wait until they are in pain, then go to the ER for pain meds. There is nothing out there.

    Doctors have a "union".

American Medical Association: the strongest trade union in the U.S.A. ... Capitalism and Freedom, Dr. Friedman describes the American Medical Association (AMA) as the ?strongest trade union in the United States? and documents the ways in which the AMA vigorously restricts competition.Jul 5, 2012

Probably Dentists have something similar. 5 years ago had 3 or 4 root canals. Cost about $150 (no insurance). Specialist comes into town when a local dentist has a patient he isn't qualified to treat.

Imagine,, doctors come to you,, NOT YOU TO THEM and the price is affordable,, maybe because he was driving a KIA and not a BMW.?

At 55 it became apparent to why bother with work when I can live overseas in a rural community with a local who knows the prices and system for:

Rent: Nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath (no garage), Tiled patio with Washer connections, including all utilities, Plus cable TV. Less than $110 per month.

No car required, everyone LOVES to deliver your purchases directly to your door. IE: the Frito Lay guy pulls a two wheel trailer with a 120cc motorcycle on his rounds.

Bus trip to large city. Two people $5.00. Taxi anywhere in town less than a $1.00.

The dental work: 2011?? Had a toothache, xrays are done at ONE central location, no dentist had xray equipment in their office.

Tooth infection required a root canal and filling. Was told there were two other teeth that would require root canal later so I had all the work done for the agreed up price of 600,000 pesos or about $250 U.S.D. at the time, remember thinking each root canal was about $60 U.S.D.

There is NO DOUBT I could easily make $1000+ USD per month by setting up a business recruiting U.S. patients for Dentists, Clinics and Doctors. Also commissions for accommodations, taxi's, etc. ie: package medical tour.

However, that would lead to some serious responsibility and the last thing a retired person needs is a patient to have problems and then myself. There are people who do this type of recruiting but personally would never recommend anyone, life is too short,, or can be.

Cosmetic surgery,, I would say it's 20% of the cost in the U.S.

Roundtrip Miami Bogota plane,, ??? less than $500 USD. Plus hotel??

Not recommending this guy, it's just the first site on a search with prices. I'd say it doesn't get more expensive than Bogota, 8,000,000 people and some actually have money[:D]

Prices are in COP, divide by 2900 for dollars. 1,000,000 COP / 2900 = $345 U.S.D. That's today and have seen it as low as 1800 COP, the dollar is expensive right now, good for you if you have them to exchange.

im a cat 2 22 years fully retired living on pension. I look forward to a new dental bill. delta dental does cost some, but free for life would help a lot.
afterall, in 1982, congress voted free dental out of the military.
WE USE TO have free dental for life.
be nice to have it back.

We were promised a boatload of things if we would make the military a career. Very little of that is still offered - even for those of us who signed on before the benefits were cancelled. In my view, that's a violation of contract. But that's not how the goobermint sees it.

In fairness, dental care for life would be great, but howinhell can we afford it? Medical care is already a huge chunk of the federal budget.

As I've so often said, insurance IS the problem, not the lack of insurance. In a system where anyone can get, and any provider can charge, for anything imaginable, the total cost will rapidly spiral up to infinity. "$25 for one hospital aspirin? Sure, who cares. I'm not paying it." Except that you - and everyone else - IS paying for it.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

He needed surgery for one knee took vacation went back to mexico his home town so he had relatives nearby and had the work done there. Cost him way less and he also got to see family. Shame it has to be this way.
