Cold-eez lozenges and Airborne effervescent tablets. Maximum adult dosage per day. You'll feel better in half the time.

A hot wash cloth laid across my face has brought me immense relief during many a sinus infection. Almost instant relief, but lasts only as long as the cloth is hot. I have stayed right in front of the sink for half an hour, getting the cloth hot again, putting it on the face, and repeating.

This next one is a bit strange, but hear me out: We have one of those huge Hitachi vibrators. The Mrs. has an awful back and when it gets really bad we use it on her. On the advice of some doctor I thought was a nut, when I had a very bad sinus infection I did the hot wash cloth thing and then but the vibrator under each eye for a couple minutes. Whoa. Big difference. I think the idea is the vibrations help break up some of the clogged up mucus and help it drain. It's not total relief, but it did help a good bit. It's not crazy if it works.

The only 100% solid relief, works every time, is antibiotics. I know the doctors say most sinus infections are viral, blah, blah, blah, but the second day on the meds the infection suddenly miraculously clears.

Lady I know was prescribed a sinus irrigation kit to help clear up repeat problems. Says it is a big help to her. There's different types, some with medicine and some just a sterile solution to flush stuff out. Goes in one nostril, runs out the other. Some of them look like a little tea pot.

Never needed such myself. I'm told it's a weird sensation but not hard to handle.

I'm told never ever use tap water. Only the solutions sold for the purpose.

NETI POTS SUCK! DO NOT USE THEM! USE A SALINE FLUSH INSTEAD!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, that said.......do it. Saline flush is 100x better than a neti pot, as it doesn't try to drown you. Do it in the shower, every day for a week, and your sinus infection will disappear.

If your sinus(s) are bad enough you can smell the rot, you've reached a new level of infection.

Something like this is what I have:

    http://www.amazon.com/NeilMed-K-ENG-INT-Sinus-Rinse-Complete/dp/B000RDZFZ0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1398583875&sr=8-6&keywords=neil+med

This is the one I use. Feels wierd but works great. I only use distilled water to dissolve the salt packs. Tapwater burns, do not use it ever.

Seems to me the answer is always going to be to learn about what has worked for others, try something, find what works for you. Once you get there and are satisfied, all the opinions in the world don't matter a bit.

If it is persistent, use 2 packages of the mix. That'll burn it right out! Hurts a bit, but it will fix it!

Never had a sinus problem until I quit smoking in the year 2,000.

It's 2014 and I have sinus problems constantly. I've ran the gamut of everything to get rid of it, Rx and over the counter. Some help but it persists. NeilMed saline rinse gives some relief if used daily.

Hell, I may take up smoking again!

Hopefully tomorrow will be better..once my ears quit hurting and the front of my head stops throbbing I will be happy.....

That's bizarre. I had the exact opposite reaction. While I smoked I had chronic bronchitis, ear, and sinus infections. When I quit smoking all of those went away. I have had only one bout of bronchitis since and that followed about a 7 year healthy span.

Same almost all colds went away.

But this year the pollen is so heavy its even getting to me. My red jeep is yellow. But it only gets to me when it stops raining.
