UPS or USPS

Ordered some hunting gear last week and it was shipped immediately via UPS. Got a tracking #, projected date of arrival.

Arrived Yesterday just like UPS emailed. WAS DELIVERED BY USPS. I asked the lady delivering the mail if the represented UPS now. She said the UPS shipments now came to the final mail distribution center in some areas.

I guess UPS saves gas, etc and USPS picks up some business. Anyone else had this happen yet?

I've had it happen a couple times in the past. The UPS guy stopped when I wasn't home, so he dropped the packages off at the P.O. just down the street. I was quite thankful he did that. The nearest UPS distribution center is right around a 140 mile round trip.

Fed Ex has been doing the same thing around here for a while.

Every Monday UPS stops by the P.O. and drops a sack full..

Normal practice now. It is cheaper for UPS & FedEx in many cases to drop the packages at the local USPS & let them deliver them. Usually when you ship the budget rates (if your even given a choice). Problem is if you have a tracking number it only tracks to the Post office.

In many instances, it's a dumbazz idea concocted by the bigwigs in a board(bored) room in Biggsville. Numerous times the UPS driver passes the delivery to drop the package at the PO for them to deliver and loses a day in the process. Other times the UPS doesn't reach the small town PO during it's open for business hours so UPS hauls the package around for 3 days trying to drop at the PO and then delivers to the recipient. These were the rules 3 years ago while I was still working at USPS.
Even though I was a Postmaster, I was on good terms with the local UPS driver and we both agreed that this was/is a dufus plan.

Have not got a UPS package that way but have received several Fedex packages in the mail.
