Movie Review Get Smart got Smarter

I laughed my * off! [:D]

If you watched it on TV back in the sixties, you will get a major kick out of this movie. I haven't laughed so hard at a movie in years. I must admit I like Barbara Felton better than Anne Hathaway though but she does pretty good. Steve Carell could be Don Adam's clone with that nose and manner. The biggest surprise of the movie to me was Alan Arkin as the Chief. He was GREAT! Easily better than the original! James Caan as president is a riot too.
This movie is a must see if you watched the original TV show, you won't be disappointed!

Fox News reported that "Get Smart" and "The Love Guru" are tied for "Worst movie of the Year" but it still looks funny to me.

Strange how it works, but the movies the reviewers call "the worst of...", I always seem to like better than the award winners.

On a given Tuesday night, in 1966, 100 per cent of the American public was watching Get Smart.

Would you believe 50 per cent?

Think I'll pass until I hear more positive reviews.

I've always been disappointed 99.9% of the time with remakes of the TV classics.

He aquires one. With cell phones in common use, the writers were very creative is blending 60's technology. Some of the gags are very subtle so you need to be watching and not grabassing. Hymie shows up also and unless you saw the TV show, you won't know who he is. Walking back to the car I was still laughing at the movie.[:p]

Danny, this is one movie you can take your grandkids to and not be worried about. I don't know what it's rated, but it's a "G" for sure.

I thought the original show obvious and sophomoric. I just can't wait to miss the new one.

It's hard for me to imagine anybody other than Don Adams as Maxwell Smart, or Barbara Feldon as 99. Don Adams was Maxwell Smart. I had just assumed nobody else could pull it off, but based on your recommendation I'll get the DVD when it comes out.

    Thanks for the review.

I saw a biography of Don Adams a few weeks back.
He was 52 years old, Get Smart had been off the air for years. He was having a midlife crisis.
He was on vacation in Italy with his wife of 25 years, a good looking gal.
He called his girlfriend in California, she said she missed him. He hitchiked and rode motorcycles all across Europe to England, he caught a flight to LA to be with his girlfriend.
His wife was wondering, "Where is Don?"

A few months later he was married to his 25 year old girlfriend.
They were still married in 2003. Don Adams died, I think it was 2005.
Seemed to be a really nice guy.
He was good friends with Hugh Hefner and went to the Playboy Mansion once a week for poker games.

Yeah, [:p] and it works as good as it used to. This won't spoil anyone's fun, but his best new gimick is a Swiss army knife with a crossbow built in. The airliner head scene will leave you in the aisle (it did me at least).[:o)]

I think one of the funniest things I ever saw in a movie, I don't remember the name of the movie or the British spy but I think it was the guy who used to be Mr. Bean, was fiddling with a ballpoint pen weapon and accidentally killed his boss's secretary and never noticed it.

That one had me really wondering, cause what about just usig the knife part of it.

Rest of the film was great, I have not laughed at many films lately but did with this one. Ann Hathaway is no Barbra Felton but thats already been said. But she does have a nice set of legs.[:p]
