For those that have not done this:

    1. Part of the instructions that say "Stay near a bathroom" should read "Stay IN a bathroom".

    2. Line up a few books you have not read, or would enjoy re-reading. A portable DVD player and a few movies can also be handy. Setting up your loading bench and a press in the potty is probably going overboard.

    3. Baby wipes. Chill them in the fridge beforehand. You can thank me later. No, really.

11b6r - I wish you would not do things like this when I have a mouthful of tea - had to clean off the screen and key board. But the instructions are valid. Best AQH

I would be happy all s--ts and grins if I could prepare and have a colonoscopy

I lost my colon to C-Dif over year ago living with a colposcopy pouch, on the 10th of next month they will eliminate the pouch small intestine will be connected directly to the rectum. I can only guess what the end results will be

The large intestine colon dries the feces, will have a direct small intestine no drying other than with meds.

So to repeat myself would be happy to have the necessary innards to require colonoscopy

Hope you invested in a comfy toilet seat and reading material. Maybe move the TV in there. You're not going to be off the throne for long.

When I had my colonoscopy / endoscopy they discovered that I had a large tumor - aberrant growth in my gi tract.

I was 45 years old - not scheduled to or supposed to have / need one until I turned 50.

No previous examination or procedure or blood work or lab test ever showed any indication of cancer or any related condition.

One of the specialists used the terms inoperable and stage 4 and suggested hospice care.

The one who became my oncologist disagreed and gave me the chance to start treatment...

But they were all clear - in agreement - came to a consensus.

I would not survive the next 30 days - I made me appointment with hospice care to arrange for the details of making my death more comfortable.

Time passed - precious time and I started radiation therapy - an intense heavy course at high levels used only in cases of last resort or lost causes.

Time passed and I started platinum based chemotherapy - a regimen not often used with treatments twice as frequent and twice as strong as normal with a recorded mortality rate of 99% - another lost cause option.

I have had my high risk tumor removal surgery - I am still here.

The cancer is gone - all blood work and biopsy procedures show not only no cancer in my system but show no indication that I ever had cancer. They are using the word cured.

There have been complications and additional hardships along the way as a result or after effect of the treatments - and I am still dealing with them - still fighting.

If I had received a colonoscopy - endoscopy earlier I might have been spared most of this.

They should start at age 40 - it would save lives.

    Don't delay your test.

    Get it now.

Don't be me - don't wait or be put off.

See your primary care physician and demand the test if you are over 40

    Mike

Think this time the Procedure was worse than the prep. Stuff they put me out with had me seeing Pirates(black Sail Kind). Woke up not able to breath nose and sinuses were plugged. Feel like I got beat up, Muscle aches bad having trouble even walking. Legs and Back.
I have not had a reaction to anesthesia like this since I was a kid.

But on a good note, they found one colon polyp they removed and the rest looked clear. The Endo side they took several samples for testing but said it did not look bad. Just wanted to be sure. Will know 1st of next week.

If I was to cut back my Blood sugar would drop to low. As it was I was at the very bottom of the scale and still be safe.

Not trying to scare anybody off having it done. But my body hurts today even worse than the last time I posted. Had this done 2 other times and had no pain the next day.
Legs hurt to walk having trouble going down hill. Sneezed earlier today and could not even move after it. Chest hurts worse than after the bypass and back also. Cannot lift my arms over shoulder high and Neck.

Could have been from the Muscle relaxant they used.

quote:If the muscle relaxant succinylcholine, also known as scoline, has been used during anesthesia, this may in some patients cause generalized aches and pains in the muscles for two to three days. This drug is sometimes used routinely, though less so now than years ago, and also has a special place in situations when the anesthesiologist needs to place a breathing tube in the patient's throat (intubate) very quickly. These pains, often referred to as scoline pains, are more prevalent in very muscular and fit patients.I may be fat but still carry a lot of muscle

How long to the effects last?

Postoperative myalgia does not normally go on for a long time and usually it is symmetrical and affects muscles throughout the body Typically the pain lasts 2 or 3 days and it can be quite severe. Fortunately it does go away without specific treatment. Standard pain medicines, such as acetaminophen can be prescribed.

    This sounds just like it.
