Because you are a first term credit student at Lane, you will receive weekly email with important links for information and tips for success! You have already attended a New Student Information Session and a New Student Advising Session and have learned a lot about being a student at Lane! Good job! This seminar will expand on that knowledge in this weekly format! These messages and links are sent to your email so that you can easily follow the links from a computer. Successful students may spend up to 60 minutes each week reviewing this important information.
To do:
1. Please access and download or print Lane's Academic Advising Syllabus (http://www.lanecc.edu/sites/default/files/counseling/lanecc_academic_advising_syllabusjdfinal5-31-13.pdf) which outlines many important links and tips for students. You might want to create a bookmark in your computer!
2. Check out Lane's Glossary of Advising Terms (http://www.lanecc.edu/counseling/glossary-advising-terms). It will help you understand the language of college!
3. Get a planner if you don't already have one, and write in dates from the Academic Calendar (http://www.lanecc.edu/calendars/academic-calendar) so you know about important deadlines and dates for the term and year! (If you don't have a planner or calendar, you can print one for free from the web. http://www.printfree.com/Calendars.htm)
4. In this first week, your job is to attend classes! Purchase your books! Organize your life! This sounds simpler than it really is, so don't hesitate to ask for help
5. At each first class session, you will be given a syllabus which will outline the course objectives and expectations for the term. Study your syllabi (plural for syllabus) carefully and determine whether your registration is right for you!
6. Check the administrative withdrawal and drop deadlines (http://www.lanecc.edu/calendars/deadlines) to learn more about your options (and responsibilities) during the first week of each term! You may have the option of dropping a course before you are required to pay for it if you do so before the deadline.
If you have any trouble following these links, or have any questions about this email, you may send them to FirstTermAtLane@lanecc.edu and I will be happy to respond!
Here is my motto for week 1:
Show up! Get organized! Plan how life and school will work together! These links to the Lane website will help!

Pretty sure "he" is a girl[;)]
Yep your right. Just do not feel like getting a bunch of extra e-mails from the school when they will only clog up my e-mail box and I will have to sort thru the e-mails from the school I do need.
