Federal Judges may get the right to carry concealed weapons...being added to the '07 Defense Bill:

I think it should be illegal for a Federal Judge to carry concealed weapons to protect himself in places like Los Angeles or San Francisco where citizens don't get that right.

You hit a pet-peav of mine. Judges are no better than anyone else. They have the right to be protected by a restraining order. NOTHING MORE! If a restaining order is good enough for a battered wife, then it is good enough for the judges!

Here's an idea, change the law to protect all of us!

    NO NO NO!

Judges are better than us. I know that because I'm told so. After all, judges can strike down any law they choose....regardless of what the peasants or their elected represenatives think.

I'll admit my ignorance. Since so many state, county and municipal judges carry concealed weapons under their robes, I assumed Federal Judges already had that privilege. So, I do learn something from time to time.

If you did the things against the common folk that they do you would want protection also.

I wouldn't refuse the right to carry to anyone who is not a violent convict or mentally unstable as long as they are a citizen. But it should include everyone who falls in that group, not a select few.

Here's an interesting question. If you allow judges to carry, might they not be a bit more sympathetic when CCW laws are challenged? Could this not be a good thing?

Don't get me wrong, I believe that judges are no better than anyone else, but when it comes down to it, judges are the ones that interpret the law and they're the ones that need convincing the most IMO.

You make a good point. Yes if the guy holding the gavel carries, he MIGHT be more inclined to rule that all law abiding people should also be allowed to carry.

Unfortunately, I am reminded of the liberal montra
