I posted this over on the Experts,but thought I might get some different opinions here.

What I'm wanting to do is build my old 10/22 truck gun into something different(cool factor) without spending a ton of money on it.
Two requirements;
1.Must be as short as possible overall so that it takes up as little space as possible.
2.Must retain reasonable accuracy.
One BIG concern;
It appears that the heighth of the open sights would turn my very accurate old carbine into a "spray and pray" toy.That would be bad![V]
One BIG plus;
Since everything except a few inches of the barrel is covered,I won't have to be so concerned with trying to fix 20 years worth of abuse and neglect as far as cosmetics are concerned.That would be good![:D]
So, what do you fine folks think[?]
Anyone have one of these[?]
Thanks,
BW

Makes for a normal length rifle with a full length barrel.
I don't see where there is any inherent value with a 20" barrel, however, unless you plan on doing a lot of housecleaning.

Of all of them I liked the AUG the best. The French FAMAS was the worse.
I really don't like the manual of arms with them and if and when you need to shoot lefty its not happening.
I have not shot the IMI Tavor but I have heard good stuff about it.
Don, the M95 is a nice design and they shoot good but working the action is not conducive to follow on shots. There were a few of them in Afghanistan and the nice thing about them was the short length but they had a few flaws. Slow follow up and you are closer to the muzzle so you get more blast and dirt in your face than with a conventional set up.
Not a fan of any bull pup but that's my opinion.
+1
owned a few, shot a few particularly do not like my face over the chamber are, a good KB and even safety glasses are not going to be of much help

Best.
Slightly off topic but in line with some thread responses...
Have you seen the ruger 10-22 takedown light carbines...
Comes in a special back pack - short bbl with a perforated jacket and a threaded muzzle...
Bbl offered in multiple colors.
Neat niche bug out gun alternative.
