60 Minutes is on now. A story about the rifle involved in several shooting tragedies. We'll see what sort of spin they put on the story. The story hasn't started yet.

Muzzle awareness factors in on any accidents as much as the equipment issues do, but you won't hear so much as a whisper of that from the media.
An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it.

Is 22 ounces trigger pull unsafe on a Remington factory trigger?

Haven't paid any attention to them since the hatchet job on the M-1.

That story PO'ed about 90% of the Army folks at the time.

Were any of the "save a penny" mating trigger parts at the upper/lower limit of spec?
Put together with parts at the sloppy end of spec, and they will fail right out of the box (not enough friction in the friction fit).

    Yes, muzzle awareness.
I heard a story on CNBC about this rifle, their first story was a lady in Montana who slipped the safety off and the gun fired.
But the gun was pointed right at the shed. And her ten year old son was behind the shed.
The bullet hit the son and killed him.

Not entirely the fault of the rifle.

Nothing but how unsafe the 700 is. People taking the safety off and shooting other people. A Hatchet Job.

What about the guy I met (at the range) who when he closed the bolt on his brand new Rem-700 it fired, so the next time he set the safety, closed the bolt and upon taking off the safety it fired. My gunsmith refused to even touch it, so back it went to Remington with less than 5 rounds having ever been in the chamber.
I suppose he, I, and all the other people who witnessed it happen are also liars in your mind?

A little research on the topic (not just the "it never happened to me, so it can't happen to anyone" type) would teach you exactly what the potential defect / problem is (hint, it's not only a handling issue).

    Forest/trees issue there Wrangler?
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Thank you. I have zero confidence in the mainstream media on such topics. They are all liars. I trust first hand knowledge from people here more than NBC or CBS.
