why didn't they just set the clock back 1/2 hour, leave it year round, and be done with it! stooopid
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Oh Boy! This coming Sunday many of us get to Fall Back an hour of our lives! Sure does disrupt my sleep cycle twice a year!

Each year about this time, and again in the Spring, I have to adjust my living and sleeping habits due to Daylight Savings Time. I have never liked Daylight Savings Time, but I help to enforce it because it is the law of the land, and we do get an extra hour of daylight out of the deal.

I have suspected for a few years now that we don't really get an extra hour of daylight. This year I did an illegal experiment which I am aware was in violation of the law. At 2:00 AM, I pretended to turn my watch back, but I really didn't move the hands. I stayed on Daylight Savings Time an extra day, but didn't tell anyone. I hoped I would be proved wrong, but the sun set on everyone in the neighborhood at the same moment, including me. For me it was 6:15 PM, for everyone else it was 5:15 PM, but I had lost exactly one hour of daylight this morning. Now I am faced with the ugly truth. We have been hoodwinked. We do not save daylight on Daylight Savings Time. But it's the law of the land, so I'll continue to help enforce it.

There are people, some in my own family, who would turn the clock back when going to bed instead of 2:00 AM, as required by law, if someone didn't enforce the law. Even police officers in uniform talk about changing the clock before 2:00 AM, but when questioned about it, they claim they conform to the law. Right. I have even heard radio DJs openly advocate changing the clock before going to bed.

I intend to turn myself in to the Time Police for my violation of the law. I can't live with myself.

Daylight Savings Time was first suggested by Benjamin Franklin as a joke. Unfortunately, Congress can't take a joke.

Aside from those in Arizona and Hawaii (I already know the answer) does your state have a measure or bill in progress to end the ridiculousness known as daylight savings time?

It's time to move your clocks forward one hour tonight. For most of us that means losing one hour of sleep. For some here, it's one less hour on the computer[:(]. On the bright side, it means longer days, more time after work to shoot, fish, and chat on the forum!

Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

    I like it.

It'll give me more day light after work before dark to get to the range. Pass it every day on the way home from work but can't stop because its past dark. Outdoor range no lights.

I wish they would move it 30 minutes in the middle and leave it alone. I get tired of setting bout 20 clocks in my home/vehicles twice a year and looking up the manual and trying to figure out how to set my watch.

I hope they do repeal it 'cause that extra hour of sunlight burns my lawn up.

I actually heard a woman say that on a call in radio show back in 1971.

It all seem relative to me! Its always dark when I drive to work, though in the summer the sun doesn't set until 2 hours after I have already gone to bed!

I don't like the 1 hour shock. We should go to a 1 minute per day for 60 days spring and fall. Would make the transition much easier.

I actually like DST. I think Bush did the right thing making it happen earlier in Fall.

For many years Indiana was on Eastern Standard Time all year, which was in effect Central Daylight Savings Time all year.

As I recall the governor's reasoning for pushing the bill to go back on DST had something to do with businesses couldn't figure out what time it was in Indiana and it was hurting our economy.

Currently we're on Eastern time and change with DST. That makes it still daylight at 21:30 hours in late June and early July

Now there's a push to move us back to the Central time zone but continue to change the clocks.

    Ain't it grand?
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

You may have noticed that March of this year was particularly hot. As a matter of fact, I understand that it was the hottest March since the beginning of the last century. All of the trees were fully leafed out and legions of bugs and snakes were crawling around during a time in Arkansas when, on a normal year, we might see a snowflake or two.

This should come as no surprise to any reasonable person. As you know, Daylight Saving Time started almost a month early this year. You would think that members of Congress would have considered the warming effect that an extra hour of daylight would have on our climate. Or did they?

Perhaps this is another plot by a liberal Congress to make us believe that global warming is a real threat. Perhaps next time there should be serious studies performed before Congress passes laws with such far-reaching effects.

The state of Indiana didn't start using daylight savings until 2008. They actually saw an increase in electricity consumption when they switched to it.
