For sheer looks and elegance, I would go with the revolver. For carry it would have to be semi auto.

I have no idea as to why this is I just know that it is.

Bingo!! My 4" model 66 Smith & Smoker does it for me. It can lay in the dresser drawer for months, maybe even over a year. When you pull it out, it's fitting in your hand like it was born there, and it's "open for business"!

Now to be honest, I haven't shor a ton of autos. I do have a P-85, and a 1911 is high on my to get list.

These are preferences, not opinions. And I believe the most ideal civilian carry weapon is a .38 special, DA revolver. Simple, effective, reliable.
