Does anyone else find it odd that the nose of that shell has not the slightest deformation to it?

Non-explosive kinetic energy round. Known as an APC (Armour Piercing, capped) Really hard solid projectile, had a sheet metal cap that gave it more streamlined shape. On impact it went that-a-way, leaving a really hard shot to slam thru armor.

Kill was from spalling- bits of rather hot metal that used to be your armor rattling about here and there inside the tank.

Those were 76mm. They also had a discarding sabot round (tungsten carbide spear) but does not look like that.
