shipping methods for handguns?

It's been a while since I sold a handgun on GB so I wanted to check on the acceptable methods for shipping from a non FFL seller(me)to a FFL holder receiving for the buyer.
I have noticed that some sellers offer ground shipping or other than overnight. I rechecked shipping FAQ's on the GB site and see no options other than overnight for UPS or FedEx. In the past I had shipped only overnight via UPS.
So what are the current rules? Links or basic info appreciated.

What you found is correct. I think your only options are UPS or FEDEX overnight. Long guns are OK for other than overnight, but as far as I know handguns are overnight only. I could be wrong.

Fordsix is correct, UPS/FEDEX overnight will set you back $70-$80. Look for an FFL that will ship for you at half that via USPS.

Nonlicensee must send via common carrier - UPS or FedEx - and they both require next day overnight which is very expensive.

A FFL can ship via USPS in a "if it fits it ships" box for cheap ... even by paying the FFL $25 for a "reverse transfer" and covering the $20 or so shipping costs you are ahead of the game.

Thanks for the info guys, I don't recall that it was more than $30-35 for UPS overnight, but that was several years ago.
I now recall I sent the last gun sold on GB, a little .22 derringer, thru a local pawn shop/gun store via USPS for like ~$20?
Will check them again for the upcoming listing.

My FFL charges me $40 to transfer and ship handguns for me, he mails everything Priority Mail. It works great for me and we've had no problems.

The guy at the place I used before who does transfers was gone today.
I called another gun store and that guy told me a handgun could be shipped by me via UPS or FedEx 2nd day air. I might buy that one, but he also told me I could ship myself with USPS priority mail since it would be there in 2 days. Not too confident about that idea.

ONLY a dealer or manufacturer can MAIL a handgun. The rest of us peons must use UPS or FedX and THEY require next day air. Yes, about $70-$80, cheaper to pay a dealer to mail it for you.
