However, the results he came to does not take into account that the South has been diluted by Yankee incursion. A lot of what is wrong with the South comes from lib influence and corruption from Northern interference. Many comparisons he makes would have been a lot different otherwise. Look at the worst cities in the country for crime and poverty and corruption. Most are in the North.
I know it should not bother me but a lot of this crap over the flag and monuments, etc. has brought out the ignorant who make statements everywhere about "dumb Southerners, rednecks, racists, inbred traitors", etc. There is no more racism in the South than anywhere else including the North.
There are stupid people everywhere, and some of the most ignorant "red necks" I have ever met were from Northern parts. I think too many get all their beliefs and "facts" from television and movies. All this has done as far as I am concerned is to lessen my tolerance for non Southerners. I will have a different attitude in many aspects of dealing with people than I ever had before.
All of that said, my ancestors came from Wales, Germany and Ireland, the earliest in the early 1700s. They came first to Philadelphia and moved South to Virginia and NC. We all came from somewhere and are influenced by when and where that was. I didn't grow up hating my neighbors or black people even though we were for the most part separated in daily life. In the North, they seem to have hated the Jews, Irish, Chinese, Puerto Ricans, Negroes, or whoever different lived next door.
So I'm getting long winded and wiped out a couple of other paragraphs because it's turning into a tome. I'll just say my people were not rich, never owned slaves, worked hard and were kind and tolerant of everyone. My IQ is 131, my neck is not red unless I stay out in the sun too long and my children have never been in any trouble, are all employed, have college educations and are NOT Democrats. Thank God.

Paul, if you saw how much it cost to live here, you would fall over. Taxes on my house, five bedroom, two and a half bath on 3/4 acre, are you ready...........8,000 a year. We do not have city water, sewer a middle school, a high school, trash pick up or anything to justify our taxes. My total taxes on three houses is just under 20,000 a year. I want to cry when i get that bill every quarter.
I can go down south, have twice as much, and pay probably half as much in Taxes. We do have the benefit of an over paid police dept. and corrupt politicians though[xx(] I cannot get out of here fast enough. I got something in the works, but I will wait until it is done to say anything. Oakie
