Started paying bills tonight and got to my power bill. Dang it is a total of $90.78. I can't handle these huge power bills. Wonder if I can get some of that stimulus money to pay this bill?

Mine is double that for last month. Everything is electric including furnace, thanfully. Last place I lived in propane cost $300-$450 a month to heat it.

The temps have been so nice lately my heat pump hasn't run much at all. The worst time of year my bill still stays below $150.00. Lots of insulation, 3' thick in the attic.[:D]

Our power bill is around $150 a month. Our home is heated by wood and cadet 220 heaters. The cadets only kick in when the fire goes out, but we have been lazy and the winter has been brutal.

I'm sure our old electric water heater is sucking juice like none other.

What pisses me off is that the power company changed the meters from an analog one you could monitory easily to a digital one that only shows total kwph and not real time consumption. at least when an element blew or a radio went bad, you could watch the wheel fly! I see phillips has a new monitor to address this.,

be happy. 90 bucks is pretty good.

I've seen my neighbor stick something in his meter to, I assume, slow down the wheel or somehow otherwise keep it from registering all that they use.

I've only seen him do it once and it was in the middle of summer.

Easiest bills for along time. I think ours was 98 bucks. Robins have been hanging around for 2 weeks. Spring is here.

Shoot. I have a 685 square-foot apartment and your bill is lower than my typical bill.

My house is only 1,200 sqft and well insulated. It is just me and the misses and we shut off lights when not needed.

There is typically one light on in my apartment when I am home and it's a CFL. I keep a dehumidifier set at 35% humidity next to my gun cabinet. The dehumidifier, the refrigerator, and the chest freezer where I keep my meat are the only appliances that run continuously. I turn my thermostat down to 60 degrees in the winter and keep it around 75 in the summer (Georgia weather). I still can't figure out why I pay $125 - $150.

Big chest freezers can easily use $30-40 a month in electricity. Especially if they are OLD.

Mine has been at, or above, $300/mo for the last four months...and I really cannot afford these rates. I'm not sure what's driving it up so high. I've been on the kids to turn lights/etc off when they are not using them.

I'm happy that mine were only $229 &$231 for the last two months is shows consistency and my daughters gone. Those bills would have normally been about $400.

Common tactic for pot growers to not show a huge jump in electrical use. Those 400Watt HID lights suck the juice.

i have gas heating and hot water. My biggest power consumers are 1 refridgerator and the microwave and clothes drier. My average bill without running the air conditioning is 65.00 a month for 2 people.

Electric Clothes driers uses a lot of current so do not set it for more than you really need.

Budget billint is $155. Propane water heater, furnace, clothes dryer, cooking stove. Only thing electric is lights, AC in summer, dehumidifier in summer, TV's and computers, and well pump that I use very little. Have city water for most usage. Built house in '80 and had cheap power bill untill Ameren changed out the old meter that had been on the old farm house since day one. * to no avail.

Our bill was a bit over $500 last month. Not uncommon.
