I am familiar with Norinco/Polytech quality AK's and have quite a few of both. I was wondering if anyone has one of the M1911 copies and are they worth a darn? Any feedback positive or negative would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Quality IMO is par with RIAs. A decent military style 1911. Not fancy, but a buddy has one and he's never had any complaints with it. Good value as long as the price is right (around $300-$325 used IMO). I see some sellers trying to get a lot more because they are no longer imported but I don't buy it.

They are a decent 1911, I had a Commander size Norinco many years ago and I sold it [V], I have never seen another. There were alot of the full size guns around and a few of my buddies had the full size guns and none of us had any problems with them.

Aren't Norinco mad in China? Best reason in the world not to buy one.

Buddy of mine had one back in about '95-'96. Cost him $300.00 new. I shot it some, seemed like a decent arm. I don't think he has it any more, 'cause he went uptown and got some Kimbers.

I have fired a couple of examples of these that are owned by friends.
Both were decent firearms, fairly accurate and reliable with ball ammo

I got one. Gave $225.00 for it brand new. Bought it when they first hit the market. I think it's great. Have never had a problem with it. Carbon steel parts and it makes an excellent platform 1911 to build on.

I think Norinco is really ran by the Chinese Red Army or Peoples Liberation Army or whatever they're calling the ministry for national defense nowadays. [:)]

If it shoots straight and reliably, and the price is in your budget, and it meets your needs, then it's worth it. Doesn't matter where it was made or by who or what brand name it wears.

As a used firearm, the original manufacturer already got their money for it. The money from any sale of it will go into the pocket of an American. The damage was already done when it was imported.
