I've got a 22-250 and I love it, but for 1-300 yards, I'd rather have a 223. Longer barrel life, quicker follow up shot and more available ammo.
    There's my opinion.

The military claims the 5.56 has an effective point target range of 500 meters. I don't know why it shouldn't work on yotes at 300 yards.

22-250 hands down. That's the round the military should be using if they insist on using a pea slinger.

Depends are you a reloader, but even so both are the same bullet. There is however probably a better supply of .223 brass than 22-250.

I would get an RRA Coyote Model in 223 Wylde.
    Awesome rifle.
My favorite AR platform for hunting/plinking.

you do realize that 223 Wylde is not a round, it is what rr calls a chamber?

22-250 is a nice round, only real advantage is it does have a flatter trajectory, but it stops there as far as pros vs cons, 223 is close enough in other ballistics to stick with 223, cheaper, more readily available

I have both, my .22-250 would be first choice. Second more horse power.

Step up to the 6mm. It shoots as flat as the 22-250 but has a lot more punch. Why shoot a 55 gr. bullet when you can have a 100 grain. I would take the 22-250 anyday over the .223. It shoots flatter and harder.

    Now, hold on...
He hasn't said whether or not he's interested in keeping the hide. That might have a little to do with it.

I've seen what the 6mm class and 22-250 can do to a nice pelt.
It takes extra taxidermy to get the hole patched.[:D]

Ammo for the .223 will be cheaper, and it will do a good job out to 300 yards. Firing the same bullet out of the .22-250 will give you more velocity and less drop, and will do good out to 600 yards. Ammo will be more expensive for the .22-250, but if you hand load, the cost is about the same.

I shoot the .22-250, but no one should be without a NATO caliber gun, so I also have a .223 and a .308. If you're only going to have one, and the parameters are for yote's at out to 300 yards, I would pick the .223. If you ever plan to go pop some prairie dogs, I would pick the .22-250.
