He wants me to call him reference the gun. I am not a dealer, it will probably be after July 1st, might be before then when I can get it shipped. Has anyone experienced getting registered with California? Do they have a system in place yet? If he wins, should I just tell him to pay double quick so I can get it shipped before July 1st? (I had heard that July 1st was the date.)

In addition, I do not think this gun has the intregal lock on it. I forgot to list that in the auction, I am going to check tonight to make sure and post that information. That gun (without a trigger lock) can't even be shipped to Kalifornia, can it? With Bloomberg doing what he did, I am concerned that Kalifornia might try some sneaky crap trying to get folks in trouble. I know I don't do this enough for them to worry about, but I was just wondering you all's opinion. Thanks!

In addition, I posted the "no shipping to California" after he had already bid, so I don't fault him about his bid.

It's a BIG PITA. I will never sell a gun into CA again until they overturn that law.

That model gun is on the list that CA has for approved guns, but with this new law, I'm confused. Do you think I will be ok if I get the gun there before July 1?

Why don't you just have the seller send payment by Express Mail and ship it before July 1st to his FFL? Today's only June 20th so you have time.

I think that I can make it in time Spider, I was just checking the prior posts about this subject and ran across some frequently asked questions, it says that a non ffl holder can still ship without one of those letters, that this law only applies to ffl holders. So, I think I might be ok either way.

I still question that if the gun does not have the internal lock, is it legal out there? All I can find is that you have to have a gun lock, that it does not have to be internal.

I thought some one, maybe it was admin, said the new law only applied to FFLs?

As I understand it, only FFLs have to do this.

But none of the carriers (Fed-Ex, UPS or USPS) will accept a handgun shipment from a non-dealer so I don't know how you ship it.

You mean just to PRC? Brown certainly accepts them from non-ffls, to an ffl, I have done it, but not to PRC.

I just picked up a firearm from my FFL located in San Diego County Ca. I asked him about the new Ca law. He said that it takes a few minutes for a FFL to get into the Ca system and it only takes a few minutes to do a transaction.

I'm sure the anti guns are very happy reading "I won't ship to Ca" and the pro firearm people will have to suffer a little more.

The law does not apply to individuals shipping to California FFLs.

    they sure as hell will

I have yet to understand why it is any of their business as too what you are shipping, hazmat stuff, ok they may need to keep it separate. but a box with a gun in it is no different than a box with a xbox IMO

Do they Xray all they packages?

    they aren't the TSA yet

That's not true. I ship handguns by FedEx all the time. They just require you to use overnight shipping. However, that doesn't mean that the buyer's FFL dealer in California will accept a handgun from a non-licensee. I would play it safe and have it shipped by my local FFL.

PRK dealers have told me that they cannot/will not accept a firearm shipped from a non-FFL.

OK, I slouch corrected. I checked the Fed-Ex web site and it specifically states that they will ship from an individual to an FFL.

Meaning my trick of shipping handguns to myself when visiting other states is legal but disallowed by the carrier rules.

Mainly I guess because Federal law requires that you notify a shipper that a firearm is being shipped.

There is nothing in California law that requires shipment by an FFL, except for so called "assault weapons". I know several dealers that will accept shipments from nonlicensees.

IIRC you can mail them to yourself @ some address c/o the folks that are actually there to receive it... but they cannot open the package.
