web-cam software?

i'm looking for a program cheap or freeware that i can put on my notebooks web-cam, i think my stepson is pilfering at night when i go to bed, preferably something that will record w/motion sensor

    Who made the webcam?

    If you want motion sensing, etc. under Windows, we use Logitech cams (a few versions) and they have a downloadable package that has capture and motion sensing in it. Good enough to have gotten a few 'fridge raiders fired...

    You can also use VLC to record, etc. but it has no motion sensing built in. Under Linux (if your camera is supported) there is a package called "motion" that can pay attention to the whole frame or just part of it and fire off any other app when it detects motion - play a sound, start recording, etc.
