Colt Woodsman Grips

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where I might be able to get a set of grips for a Colt Woodsman. My grandfather recently gave me the colt, and he has been given only three months to live. I would like to get a set on it, because that is why he gave it to me (at least that's the excuse he used; that he didn't have the time left to put grips on it). I have not known him that long, maybe 6 years, and I think firearms are kind of a common ground for both of us, so I was wanting to use it as kind of a bonding thing before he passes away. He has had the Colt for many years, and it had sentimental value to him, and now to me. Anyways, sorry for making that story longer than it needed to be. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

They are in the auctions all the time. They aren't cheap though. They were often replaced with aftermarket stocks and either lost or tossed. You'll also need to know exactly which version of woodsman you have. There are several different ones.

I have a set, but they are attached to a 1949 vintage woodsman target and not for sale. Someday I might trade the woodsman towards a 22 conversion for my 1911 though.

berettafan, post your request over on the want ad board. I'm sure you will get some help there, or at least get pointed in the right direction. Good luck with your search!

Have you tried www.e-gunparts.com? I think they have the pre war and match, not sure about the post war grips.
