I have yet to meet anyone in favore of it.

How can they pass a law that conflicts with the 1st,4th,5th,and 6th amendments without first repealing them?

I'm one against are there two here for?

As oughtsix is so fond of pointing out: "Tell a lie often enough and it becomes the truth."

Ashcroft is hoping that people will be too stupid and too lazy to figure out that the Patriot Acts are the single most unpopular piece of legislation ever passed in American history.

It's all in the wording. Americans could mean South Americans or Central Americans, or even Canucks. Now if they said US citizens favor PA 2:1 I'd be surprised. Either that or they're polling from that secluded trailer park where they get jurors for high profile cases[;)]

be afraid of Ashcroft...he actually believes he is doing the "Lord's Work"

Soon he will embark on a program of "racial purity"..calling it something else ..of course...
Gimme a break The guy ran for Congress and lost..shortly thereafter he got handed the job of Attorney General of the USA as a "consolation prize' Another of his cronies ran for St Louis County Prosecutor, lost and became US Attorney for The Eastern District of Missouri and is now up for appointment to the Federal Court of Appeals..as a judge..at the age of 40 and NO PRIOR JUDGE Experience..A little bit of maneuvering to make sure that the Insurance Companies have control over what happens to cases that are appealed in his District ....in fact one of Ascroft's top party officials in Missouri said he would prefer to stay out of the limelight in this way "I dont want to be a King..I am a King maker"

Once he grows the little moustache and combs his hair differently the public may recognize what he truly is..
Its republicans like this that make me want to vote for the other guy rather than for them..and throw tea into the harbor

I find Ashcroft to be much scarier than Bush when it comes to his vision for America.

They have been doing so long before the Patriot acts came to fruition.

The Patriot Act, I am in favor. With a name like "Patriot" it has to be a good thing and for our own good for our government know's what is in our best interest. NOT!

The government gets away with it because the citizens do nothing about either from being not informed or fully informed or simply not caring. The government and those people and entities in power know that most people will willingly give up their rights because the responsibility of living as free people is just too much af a hassel in modern life.
