I was looking at the NRA site the other day and saw on there where the governor of KY signed HB290, which among other things, says that the Kentucky Concealed Permit will now substitute for the background check when buying a gun. Can anybody actually confirm this for me? I looked at the BATF's site, but couldn't find anything about the change. Thanks!! Here's the link....

In Florida, you still undergo the background check with a concealed weapon permit, you just get to take the pistol home the same day instead of the five day wait the common folk have to endure.

No background check here in SC when a CWP is presented to purchase. Just did a pistol thru an FFL Friday.

Well, the BATF has now updated their site to show that KY's CCDW will suffice in place of the background check, beginning July 12, 2006. Cool!!!!!!! Here's the link...

O.K. , several states do this (Az 4 one) it depends on the state process to receive the 'ccw' that determines if the feds (AFTE) will allow the 'no back-ground check @ point of purchase' (w-ccw) ??? and ,
Five (5) days waiting for a gun ??? what the hell ??? the 'instant back-ground check' was supposed to eliminate this type of crap...unless you live in the republic of Kalf. or some b.s. place...
I think all states with 'ccw's should go this route .........
    Thanks !!!

The state requirement for CCW and pistol purchases are a separate issue away from the Feds. Most states have different laws concerning the CCW or CCP or what ever a particular state calles it..All the CCW in Florida does is eliminate the mandatory 3 day wait for delivery of a hand gun,, There is no three day wait for a Long gun, period..Or no wait if you trade in a gun be it long or hand..All FFL buys will be processed with a NICS phone call..

in SC you get to take gun home same day weather or not you have a CCW. But if you have a CCW you skip the background check, still have to fill out white form and all but lets yo skip the dreaded call. Man am i glad i got my permit cause i know people with the same name as mine there's always warrants and crap so i always get investigated, meaning i get to wait a day or two before i can bring my babies home.

The system is still screw up though.. A stand by deputy, also with a CCW, was Denied the purchase of a pistol from the gun shop I do business with by the NICS phone call, Took him three months to straighten the BS out..

There have been a rash of Conditionals as of late, dont know if its due to the theft of all the military records or just a screw up in the system.. Most of those conditionals go through but it just takes about 5 days longer..
