Sump Pump tip of the day

Do not wire a switch to the outlet that controls the sump pump. Just plug it in direct.

Sooner or later junior is going to ask "I wonder what that switch does?"

He's going to turn it off and walk away figuring the switch does nothing.[:0]

My cousin has 4 inches of water in his basement.

This is equally true for sewage grinder/pumps.[B)]

The flowerbed around the grinder sure does produce some nice plants for the next year or so.

hardwire the pump and use a float switch (on the pump) , and have a high water alarm. This goes for sump as well as sewage/grinder pump. That way curious little hands can't cause grief.
