i was looking through the auctions at gun cabinets(for the hell of it) and came across alot that are made of solid pine............................is there such thing as hollow pine????????

    Actually yes, I've seen a lot of old growth that had rotted hollow. Therefore, Hollow Pine - (More sarcasm)

    Powder post beatles will eat pine fom the inside-out. The pine may look good but it's not. Maybe what they are trying to say is that the pine cabinet has not been infested by these beatles. More sarcasm

    Some stuff is made from veneered products, e.g., a thin slice of pine, oak, maple, whatever, glued to a plywood substrate. Thus the description "solid", meaning it's made from pine boards rather than pine-faced plywood.

    Get yourself a cabinet made of CEDAR, dont have to worry about bugs eating it, It smells good, and Looks good, will last a lot longer than pine, How many antique pine chests have you seen compared to the CEDAR CHESTS??
