How long should a person wait?

Won a auction on 8/11 at 10:56 PM. Dropped money order in mail on 8/13 at 10:00 AM. Have not heard a word or seen item yet. North Carolina to Indiana. Seems just about long enough don't you think?

    Rosie,
WAYYYYYYYY to early to get your panties in a bunch. I deal with this ALL the time. Mail to certain areas of the country (like Tucson) can take 5-7 days ONE WAY. It isn't uncommon for mail to take 10-14 days to get out of Tucson.....and that is Priority!

Before everyone starts saying "mail doesn't take that long, yada yada" IT DOES IN TUCSON! (sometimes!)

I was told by the Tucson postmaster that basically, mail doesn't leave Tucson until they have a full load, going to wherever! And all mail leaves Tucson on trucks....so it is extra slow.

    I ship 2,000+ packages a month.......it sucks, trust me!

Merc (who hates the USPS with a vengeance!)

NO! You may not have my guns! Now go crawl back into your hole!

I have noticed that the usps has slowed down alot in the last year. You should be able to get a phone #, and call him. If not, email him, and ask him to email you back when he receives the check. I always email the buyer back, when I recieve a check. I also send tracking info, and the date shipped.

I gotta agree w/ Merc - try emailing the seller if you are nervous. And I would point out that I'm still waiting for three checks, one of them sent Priority, to arrive from various dates going back three years. All of these from reputable buyers (including an individual highly respected in this forum) who sent replacement payments.

There are too many "opportunities" with email, snail mail & freight carriers for people to be too impatient.

Rosie; I do not agree with the others here (IF) you have had no contact "AT ALL" since the auction ended. Over 10 days there should have been some kind of contact with you. There might be a legitimate reason why you have not been contacted. On e-pay the seller has 30 days to get the item to you. Most people do not want to (and should not have to) wait that long. I won an auction on the 10th. I have the item and feedback has been posted. On occasion I have had mail take up to 30 days to be delivered, but that is the exception, not the rule.I don't want to step on Merc's toes because I know he does A LOT of auctions. But I have to take exception to his statement on when the mail will go out. I did a stint as a postal employee, and for a while on the docks with the trucks. (albeit it was not in Tucson) But the mail system works about the same everywhere, the trucks run on a schedule, it does not matter if they are full or not. If he is running his post office any other way I don't think he will be there long.Try contacting the seller.

If I knew then, what I know now.

    Hi Rosie...
If you remember I had a similiar prob... if it was on GB.. get the phone number and phone the person... I had to do it, and found out the seller had not updated his email addy...
Sometimes life gets in the way of selling and buying... illness, death.. marriage trouble.. its best to make the call and see if the money order arrived and when you can expect shipment....
If it was on ebay... contact the admin dept... they can intervene for you and supply you with a phone number if necessary...
Until you decide what you are going to do, send emails asking for a receipt, so when the seller opens the mail to read it, a receipt is sent back to you automatically, and at least you know he/she got the eamail...
Mine is set up to send them automatically even if the person on the other end clicks not to send receipts... just a program I have installed in mine...
