Last year we booked a hunt with Pinfeathers & Hackle (Steve Chorney) in Wildwood, Alberta and paid for 4 Hunters to hunt geese and ducks September 18-22, 2005. Shortly before we left for the hunt,we received a call from Steve Chorney and he informed us of a train derailment and oil spill that in effect cancelled the hunt we had already paid for. Steve assured us he would refund the money for the hunt due to the oil spill, and also offered us a free goose hunt next year for our inconvenience.

We have repeatedly tried to contact Steve Chorney to find out the details of the refund, as well as details for the trip planned for the following year (2006). I have 3-4 phone numbers for Steve and Pinfeathers & Hackle, however, no one ever answers the phone, and if the phone is answered, it goes directly to voice mail. We have literally left HUNDREDS of messages and e-mails for Mr. Chorney to call us back, and still have not received a refund for the hunt or as much as a phone call from Steve Chorney.

We are told by the Alberta Outfitters Association that we are not the first group to file a complaint against Mr. Chorney for non-performance and non-refunding.

I'll kick this back to the surface for you. Would it be possible to turn him into collection? Anything the RCMP might be able to do for you? I'm thinking along the lines of fraud charges. I'm sure you have a good deal of coin tied up in this venture already. I'm just throwing out a few things, but I'm sure you thought of all this already. Good luck.

An RCMP call at the earliest possible moment.

Those guys don't fiddle around - talk to a
supervisor first - be polite and firm.

Call the RCMP or the local police for the Wildwood area in Alberta...Information will be able to give you the numbers with no problems....

Something could have happened, sickness, death etc... An online search shows magazine articles written by in in 2003 and 04 and nothing after that....the Pinfeather and Hackles web site no longer exists, so you might want to check things out before you assume other things...
