My brother won a RUGER M77R MARK II 270 WIN, well he has always wanted a RUGER #1 single shot. He asked the gun shop about trade in trade up they said...
" Sure bring $595.00 "
They will only give him $350.00 trade in on the gun he won.

What do ya think!

The difference in price should be $300 not $595.

That is what he was thinking $200.00 or $300.00 more.

Terrible deal for your brother. He'd be better off selling it himself and then buying the #1. They want to give him over $100 UNDER WHOLESALE for the NIB 77R....and then charge him slightly under their wholesale price on the #1. It's not a bad deal from the dealer's perspective b/c they stand to make around $200 on the 77R, but they are going to loose $50-$75 on the #1. They made him a fair offer, but they have to stay in business. Your brother should be able to sell that 77R for at least $500-$550 (quickly) and should be able to pick up a #1 for under $800. He'd only be out $250 cash, instead of $600...

If he was smart, he'd sell the Ruger and buy a Remington![;)][}:)][:)]

They still have to make money. They cannot afford to give him full retail on the 77R. They are already out at least $470 in cost on the 77 and their cost on the #1 is going to be around $670...and these numbers do not reflect any shipping charges they've incurred. With an additional $300, they'd only be making about $50 on the #1 by the time you factor in shipping charges. They made him a fair offer, from a dealer's perspective...but he'd be better off selling the 77 on his own.
