Sellers - whats your opinion on foreign customers?

I've just registered here on this site in the hopes of purchasing firearms directly from the states rather than going through local resellers because you wouldn't believe how much is tacked on before the weapon goes to the store. Roughly ~$450 for the New Vaquero becomes ~$980 here in Finland.

Alot of sellers don't ship internationally but how do you generally feel about shipping to a US based firearms exporter or FFL as I think you call them and letting him do the export work?

I do not ship directly out of country as I think there is a lot of red tape to get through. Just waiting for a export liscence (or whatever you call it) will take a long time. However I will ship to another FFL if you choose it that way (although I dont have any Vaquero's for sale at this moment). Then they can ship it to you. I'm under a different screen name of course, and will not disclose it here.

You can try and put this same post in the 'want ads' section on these forums. Perhaps they can tell you of an FFL to FFL to your country that has the Vaquero for sale. As I said before I have no problem shipping a Vaquero to another FFL then they ship to you, its just I dont have that paticular gun on auction.

    Hope this helps.

If someone else will export it and deal with the state department, not a problem. Euro's are more than welcome. Absolut and Skyy are pretty popular too.[:p]

Thanks for the positive responses. I'll likely not be doing anything final yet. There's alot of paperwork on my side too to be done first as well and you know how it can be money-wise when you're juggling alot of projects at the same time. Sinking alot of money into my firebird at the moment and I'll also be needing to stow away some extra money for a vacation this summer since the girlfriend wants to go somewhere come July. And so forth :)

Well, I've been trying to find a reliable dealer in the US who does exports.

I know it generally takes the ATF about 3-4 weeks to process an exportpermit and it's fairly simple at that.

Ask your local ATF and ye' shall find.
I found out about getting a Remington Rolling Block to Denmark - that's easy.

Eventhough Germany have strict rules about import/export - it's been easier to just buy the guns there and jump through their hoops rather than being stonewalled in the US by people who don't know or don't care to fill out the papers.

Generally it's no problem to pay the gun up front - full payment as well as the cost of papers and shipping. So I'm amazed that so few gunshops are willing to do export.

The liberals ought to make export easier.
That means one less gun in the US. They should be happy about less strict rules there. hehe.

I've tried going through germany but the only ones who seem to offer the Ruger are Frankonia and they haven't responded to my emails and the price would hardly be better than what I could do from the USA. Even with import tax(assuming a normal 22%) and freight and license costs it should save me ~250 dollars. I've contacted one of the exporters listed on the site and he estimated an 180 dollars for license + freight.

Had a fellow wanting me to sell him an AMT automag II and ship it to Portugal.. Only a couple of exporters here and he contanced them, total cost for license and shipping..$640.00 USD..HARDLY WORTH THE TROUBLE..
