Have a laugh at my expense, but no wise cracks please.. and you would laugh if you had seen me..

Last night Classic and I decided to take in the fireworks display...no big deal.. well wait... Remember this is coming from someone who was born in a place where fireworks are banned, they are not for sale in the stores like here, and displays are just that.. Displays requiring a permit and only to be set off by licenced techs..
The biggest display is July 1st... I think you get the general idea..

So anywho... we parked the bike and took the car (rain cancelled the bike earlier) and headed out...Down US 19...and MY GOD.. I was in awe... I mean total complete 2 year old kid awe struck.. People setting off fireworks all down the interstate, in parking lots, homes.. the whole sky was lit with color... My head was in constant motion..(good thing I wasnt driving) taking in everything...pointing out to Classic the "big one" on the left, the right, in front of us.. behind... (yep..seen those too) *LOL
Got to the display and again.. off to ga ga land.. people setting them off in the parking lot..waiting for the big display to start..and it was great..
I am not sure if its a show of patriotism (sp?) or just because people like to set them off and see them.. but I like to think its the first reason.. but to see such a display of patriotism was and is mind boggling...
Coming home it was the same.. off to ga ga land again..I know Classic had a bit of a laugh when I was constantly pointing out to him all the fireworks, and just to see my reaction to all of them .. well to put it mildly.. it must have been amusing *LOL
I am still in awe over the whole thing..

Here in Lawrence KS. everybody and their grandmother were lighting off literally tons of fireworks. Not the little roman candle and saturn missle stuff, I am talking large sky rockets and mortar material. I have never witness such a display of celebratory patriotism, it was simply incredible. These midwesterners sure know their fireworks !!

In NY State, it is illegal to buy and set off fireworks unless you are a licensed professional. We can't even use sparklers -- fire hazard you know. Nevertheless, our neighbors a little down the lake set off a pretty good side show while the main one in the town further up the lake was going on. At one lull, somebody yelled, "Is that all you got?" One of the guys setting them off yelled back, "Hell, no!" and started another volley.

    Hey Guys!

Let me tell ya, BlackRoses was like a kid in a candy store, all wide eyed with the oooh,s and ahhhh,s as she watched her first real fireworks display.

I had to chuckle to myself, but knowing that Canada does not have fireworks, I can understand the amazement she felt.

I even got a lump in my throat when I reflected on what it all means.
