other than the guns I have for hunting or PP, I could see keeping guns that have been in the family or collectable investments but the rest are just out there waiting for the day I need them and have the cash to buy them so why keep them now?

I agree with you about the investment/collector guns, but just because it's been in the family awhile don't mean squat to me.

If granddad carried a piece of crap when he was town marshall, guess what? It's still a piece of crap.

If uncle Billy Bob blew his brains out with an old Cresent single barrel with tape around the forearm and nails in the stock...It's a piece of crap.

If your deceased mom owned a Vega, you gonna keep it in the garage when some scapeheap is just begging for it?

guns are like shoes. when they dont fit, you toss em or give em to goodwill. im your goodwill drop box for guns. my store hours are 'always open.'[:D]
cheap guns are big market. there are more poor people than rich ones.
    most guns are tools.
face it....when was the last time you used a hammer? or that screwdriver in your kitchen drawer?
but the minute you need it, you know where it is. thats what guns are suppose to be. value means nothing. its function is whats priceless.

If you don't want them I suggest you put them on the GB auction and collect a little something for them.

If I only had guns I used it would be a small collection.I do not have them becaus I use them, I have them because I want them. Some are of little value. But I like the looks or the feel. Others I have because the price was right. I get quite a few because people need money for things and I have a little to spare. Don

I am not quite sure the point of the post, but if I understand right here is my answer. There are many guns out there that I want, and just dont have yet, but they will be avialable for the forseable future. I have a few guns that I dont use, but had to buy at the time. If I had not I would have to pay a larger price tag, if they were even around. One example is my HK SL8. Initaly I wanted one someday, then HK quit importing them. So I went out and got one for just under $900. They are still around, but well over $1000 usually pushing $1500. Now I have one, for a price I was willing to pay and later I can spend time working on it. I have made many buys like that.

Your analogy can be the same about anything....except...

How many items that you have "too many of", can be turned into cash, bartered with easily, or provide many years of fun, enjoyment, and accuracy?

I have five 22 rifles. I need, only one.

I have two Swedes. I NEED them both....hehe..trust me.

I have four Swiss K31's. One of which is in transit for another Swede (that would make three Swedes).

I have one Remington 700 in 270 Win.

    I have one M44 Russian.

    I have one M91 Russian.

    I have one M91/30 Russian.

    I have one 223.

    I have one 22 magnum - I don't need it..at all.

    I have a 357 Magnum revolver (Taurus).

I have a 44 Magnum on a Ruger Super Blackhawk.

I have two 22 pistols, both Ruger Mark II's, one has a 10" bull barrel.

None are worth a great deal of money. I paid the most for the 223 Savage. After that, a tie with the 44 Magnum and the 270 ($250 each). After that...all were under $150.

But, any of these, can be turned into cash, and at least, if not more, than what I paid for them.

Soon, I will have an 8mm Mauser Sniper (yes, it is original) that has been in my Step Dad's family for some time. It will stay at my house...along with the rest.

Which model and what's the story? If legit, you could buy all the others and still have cash left over with what the sniper is worth.

Just send them all to me. I'd be more than happy to help you out. No problems with shipping either. I'll send you a copy of my FFL and all you have to do is take it to the post office! I know...it's a little bit of a sacrifice for me to do this, but I'd just like to help you out...[;)][}:)][:p][:)]
